The Barn At Smith Farm

Went here with a group of business associates and coworkers for an early dinner. Beautiful old barn with a huge outdoor patio along with a big open yard with picnic tables. Cornhole and fire pit with chickens and hens running around the back yard. It was the perfect place for us as we had drinks and many appetizers delivered to picnic table we chose in the lawn. Service and food were both excellent.

Reservations not required but are suggested. Wood fire pizza was the big draw for us. It is a separate business, but the restaurant has a cheese or pepperoni option on the menu. If you call in an order for pickup, many other toppings are available. We opted for the chicken and corn egg roll appetizer with honey mustard sauce. Served piping hot, 3 egg rolls...each cut in half, great tasting plate for several people. It was delicious. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza, typical wood fired pizza, great crust, little char. A few bubbles, sufficient cheese, somewhat greasy due to the pepperoni....yum. The menu has a few vegetarian options, poultry, pork and seafood...did not notice anything beef. We were too full for dessert, but they did have a separate dessert menu which we declined. The hostess and waitress were both friendly and helpful. Old barn interior with some interesting light fixtures and chandeliers. Lovely uncovered deck available for outside seating with a pretty view. They have fun goats to the side of the restaurant....they always seem to be climbing up something when I drive by. Entertaining, not sure if they are part of the restaurant. They close in the Fall as their is no heat inside, so that date is flexible. Parking lot smallish so if it's a busy night and meeting friends you may want to carpool. Definitely going back again.

We arrived at 5:30 as we hoped for an early evening and left at 7:30 without ever eating (except for a brussels sprouts appetizer which was delicious). The wait staff was awesome, but the food service was abysmal. At 7:30 they said the food might take 15 more minutes...we left....hungry and frustrated. Such a great venue, but definitely severe growing pains. We will not go again except the music was so good.. Maybe just go for the awesome music? Hoping they get it together as it could be awesome.

We haven’t eaten there before the pandemic and loved it. We got take-out tonight & my $30 salmon was over cooked & very fishy. The rice that came with it was bland. Not impressed. The chicken Bahn Me sandwich was good, but not something I’d drive there for again. Great music and outdoor seating though. (I was there for awhile waiting for my food.)

We love this place. It's the perfect balance for us, we can have a quiet date night on the deck and have a great water view. Or we can bring the kids and they can run off and explore watching the farm animals. It makes dinner more exciting and a great place to go during a pandemic. Food is incredible and I highly recommend the chicken egg rolls, brussel sprouts app and cheese platter! You won't be disappointed.

The venue is beautiful and the food was excellent. Waitress had a bad attitude and the woman that appeared to be a manager or owner was very defensive when she did a check in and we shared that their web site read they had 4 fire pits yet the waitress said that wasn’t true . We observed 1 fire pit being used by another party and 3 chimineas there were not in use . She said -oh we only use those for weddings and you could have just gone inside. A simple- I’m sorry about that, would have gone a long way .

When you say mmmm after every bite you know the food is exceptional. We started with the brussel sprouts with the aioli drizzle and truffle oil fries for apps. They were good but my dinner selection blew me away. My husband had the fried eggplant with heirloom tomatoes. My dinner was the show show stopper. I had the cheese tortellini with butternut squash, oyster mushrooms and shrimp. The balance of flavors in this meal, the sweet from the squash, crunch from hazelnuts and who doesn't like cheese tortellini? It was fresh, well balanced and the flavors tickled my taste buds with every bite. I had to stop the involuntary Mmmmmm. Phenomenal meal, we'll be back! Bonus: great live music. Singer was great.
