Gathering Grounds Cafe

I stopped in late afternoon for the first time to try this place out. Very cute inside and the barista was very friendly and patient as I browsed the options. I went with a butterscotch latte. Unfortunately, I just didn’t love the taste. It was also more pricey than I expected for a coffee house right off of a college campus. I believe it was about $7 for a small latte. Might be worth paying that if it was delicious but alas, it was not. I may try their regular drip coffee for a better idea of their roast, but truthfully, there’s so many other coffee shopped in the area that I already like, I’m not sure I’ll make another trip specifically for this one.

I love going here and invite my friends to join me all the time and I really think it's because of the baristas. I was so happy to have a spot with vegan options like the vegan blueberry croissant and vegan cookies but now that it's been taken away, i am left heartbroken. One star for management, five stars for customer service.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I arrived and set up my computer, before going to order a coffee. I received a phone call as I was setting up, so I sat down for 2 minutes to take the phone call. An impatient employee came over and told me I have 5 minutes to leave due to the tables being reserved for customers only. She did not even bother to ask me if I was planning on ordering something. She didn't even give allow me to be in the cafe for more than 3 minutes before assuming I wouldn't be ordering anything and kicking me out without even giving me the chance to purchase anything. Save your money and go next door to Dunkin. Better all around quality including customer service.

I don’t typically leave reviews but i need to. Ive been coming here for a few years now and its been my favorite shop until the past few months. There must have been some sort of manager/owner change because this place has changed so much but not for the better. Ive been noticing more products go away, some days the food is cold or stale, the employees are looking more and more miserable, a charge for alternative milk options, the sandwiches arnt in stock a lot or taste like theyve been thrown in the microwave or sitting out for a while. When i started coming here it was so great and the staff seemed to love working here, for a while it was like this but the past few months ive noticed changes with the staff that leaves me wondering whos running this place to see their employees looking miserable and not do anything to help moral or get team building going. I hope these wonderful staff are getting paid well because if not, no wonder they’re miserable between getting yelled out by customers for not having certain foods (not the staffs fault and this has happened in front of me) and probably arnt being treated well by higher ups. As a person who runs a business, it’s unacceptable to stand by while your employees are getting humiliated by customers and to leave your customers upset as well. I hope the manager/boss sees this and knows there are major changes that need to happen so the beautiful staff here can be happier, WANT to work, and has the menu options in stock and fresh.

It is hilarious to me that they are not only continuously out of sandwich options now, but HOT COFFEE! With competition like Starbucks and Dunkin, don’t you think that the owners would try a little bit harder? Also you can see the dread on the barista’s faces when they have to tell a customer that they are out of something, and people get angry with them. It’s a shame because it’s not their fault but the manager’s.

Cute place and nice food however the oven neeeeeeeeeed to be changed. Their food taste like diesel fuel ⛽️ I ordered a cookie it’s delicious 🤤 however the bottom part taste like diesel from the burnt and old oven. Today I ordered cinnamon bun and I can see the dusty black burnt oven metal on my frosting 😳 and I literally throw it to the garbage coz honestly I could not swallow it. I will never buy food from them however I will be back for their coffee 👯‍♀️

I absolutely ADORE this place :) Wonderful vibe, amazing coffee with lots of customization options, and super nice employees! The Halloween and fall specials are available all year round (which is great because their Vampire's Blood is to DIE for). I come here pretty much every Wednesday. Photos attached are from fall/winter of last year; they're now decorated with flowers and completely socially distanced.
