Duck Donuts

I moved here from the Outerbanks so I have been to the original Duck Donuts a lot over the past 20 some years. There is something that just doesn't catch the true authentic flavor. These are good and since the Outerbanks is hours away I will still eat these when I get a "longing for home", but there is a difference. Maybe it's the salt air. But these do not taste the same, still good but different. Enough that I noticed it at first bite and came home and googled if the recipe had been changed. Maybe as another person mentioned in their review its the fixing of the donuts but I got cinnamon sugar, plain, and two with chocolate. Kinda hard to say the taste was off due to toppings when it is a plain donut! Also the inside of the donut seemed much lighter in color than what I get at home. Still a good donut though. The person who took my order was not friendly, a little off putting, it was like she was not awake yet. I was the only customer but the young girl who handed me the finished product was very sweet.

Outstanding food, but the staff was overwhelmed the day we went. They either lost part of our order, or gave it to another customer. After waiting for 20 minutes to hear the on-line order was ready, I had to interrupt one of the workers to inquire on the status of the order. She had to reprint the ticket to assemble the donuts, meaning our breakfast sandwiches were sitting on the counter getting cold. We'll be back since the food is so good, but hope they don't experience the same issues next time.
