Bubba

Had a fantastic dinner last night our first time at Bubba. All the cocktails were well balanced, and all of the food was prepared perfectly. The fried chicken was delicious, and we opted for the hot honey sauce which added a sweet heat. Shrimp and grits were delicious, as were the sides of collard greens and the Mac and cheese. For appetizers we ordered the fried green tomatoes and the deviled eggs and enjoyed both. Definitely recommend this place and will plan to come back!

I've been struggling to write this review because I really wanted to love this place, but I didn't. I try to be really transparent with my reviews and if I'm being honest I thought the food here was really bland. I feel like this is what northerners think southern comfort food is. You can do a lot of things to an original dish to make shine brighter for a restaurant but I honestly feel like they took all of the magic and comfort out of the comfort food. The cocktails on the other hand were amazing. Nothing wrong with the ingenuity there. Our server seemed like he was the only one working in the whole place but he was still extremely attentive with the 4 tables in just our section. Who knows how many more he had on the other side. The layout and decor are also infinitely beautiful. If you want a pretty place without a care about the food then Bubba will serve you well. I'll only be back for the drinks from now on.

Overall, it was a really good experience. The ambience is really nice, and our server was great. The food was good, not exceptional. We got fried green tomatoes as our appetizer. They were under-seasoned, and there wasn't enough remoulade for dipping...I'd probably give it a 6/10. For entrees, we got the fried chicken and waffles, catfish (fried) skillet and a couple of sides (grits + mac & cheese). The grits and mac were really good. The fried chicken was not anything amazing, and lacked seasoning. The cat fish skillet overall was really tasty, but like the fried chicken, it was under-seasoned. So overall, lacked on some execution and basics, but was still good.

The food was delicious! Service was great. This is one of our new favorite restaurants. I ordered the blackened catfish and is was so good. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak. She said it was good, but a little tough. The waitress recommended drinks and they were amazing! We will make this a normal spot for us.

I dined solo and even though I was dressed casually, service was great! People dress up a big (biz casual++) but I just happened upon the place and didn't know this! I had the gumbo (don't skip this step), Shrimp & Grits and a Mint Julep. Everything was phenomenal. I cannot wait to take my bourbon-loving partner!

I can't say enough good things about this place! Fun and interesting decor. The meal was amazing. We started with their fried green tomatoes...wow!Their Chicken fried steak is huge, crunchy breading with the most tender meat. Pimento mac and cheese had great flavor. Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes were perfect. The best was their version of banana foster for dessert. I will definitely be back!
