Olio

I would never recommend Olio to anyone. The food was either very bland, slightly overcooked or over salted. Not a single thing we ordered was decent. I've had better food at a buffet in a grocery store. For the price I was expecting the food to be great and gourmet but this was anything but that. The server was rude the entire meal, just had a combative tone to her voice every time we were ordering. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and we chose not to complain at the restaurant even though all of us were uncomfortable with the waitresses treatment of the table. She even went so far to nudge several of us on the shoulder to get our attention to ask was we wanted when we paused to look at the menu. We didn't even take that long to give her the order. Seemed like we were just annoying her so she chose to be rude. I've never had that happen before in a restaurant. Will never return and will never recommend to anyone to eat at this restaurant.

Visited 12/23/21. Food was excellent. Our server was excellent. We had a very nice time. Although some comments: When we walked in, we were told our reservation over the phone did not say we could sit outside. After some back and forth with some servers, they let us sit outside, mind you the restaurant was completely empty. When we left, there were maybe four other tables there. Not sure why this was such a fuss. We left happy. My grandmother, who paid, received a call around 9:30 (when she was in bed sleeping) saying they had lost the receipt and needed to know how much she tipped. This is very impolite and as a server myself, something I would never do. I keep my receipts close to me and if I lose one, I take the blame. It is not the customers fault for losing a receipt. She called back to inform the amount my father had written on the bill as the tip and put her phone down to go back to bed. 30 minutes later another call asking about the tip. This was inappropriate for a restaurant to do and I am curious if this is common practice for this restaurant. The server said he would make it up to us since my grandmother was very unhappy, but we are not sure how this would happen.

It's a very nice restaurant and our experience with the staff was pleasant but in the end we were all pretty disappointed. The food was mediocre all around. My friend ordered the mussels that was tasted bland and didn't seem fresh. The rigatoni was not cooked enough and the meat sauce was average. And while I am not overly critical about paying for "okay" meals, there were two things really killed our experience. We waited over 2 hours for our dinner and unfortunately it still came out cold. (The mussles) The waitress warned us that they were running a little behind on food service that night. We were seates at 8:15 and did not get our meals until 10:30pm. By the time we left it had been over 3 hours since we first walked in the door. What was also disappointing was the extreme mark up in price of their wines. They have an extremely larger that usual wine selection by the bottle, but it was nothing special and their mark up was just a bit much. In some cases, 3-4 times the amount for over retail. Will have to really reconsider if this comes up.

My wife and I were wanting to have dinner at this restaurant for sometime. And for our 33 year anniversary we finally made a reservation. What a disappointment! We should have check the reviews before making the reservation. The service was impersonal and disrespectful . We ordered a bottle of wine and asked the waitress to hold the dinner order so we could enjoy the wine. She did not like that and let it show . The wine cork broke and it took two people and 20 minutes to decant it. When we finally got the wine, it was bad. The waitress brought back the wine list and asked us to chose a vintage “not too old”. At this point we had enough, paid for our water and left. On the way out I met the owner and told him what happened (he was one of the people working on our wine). He claimed the wine was good and showed very little concern. He really did not care at all.

Last week we made a reservation via open table and had reserved for the outside. Upon arriving they tried to seat us inside even though my reservation was clearly marked for outside and there were numerous tables open so I didn’t see why it was a problem. The manager refused to seat us outside and claimed all of those tables were reserved. As we were deliberating on what to do one of the employees shoved me instead of simply saying “excuse me” and hurled remarks at me. It was a very chaotic environment. Every single worker appeared to be disgruntled and they had just opened for the evening. It wasn’t even busy yet. I was so displeased but also curious so the following day I made another reservation via open table for outside and low and behold they did it again. I spoke to the manger who was of no use. This place used to be really good I’m not sure if it’s bad staffing. Their sister restaurant Boheme Bistro is always amazing and I highly suggest you go there instead of giving Olio the business. Perhaps they will learn to discipline the staff into being nicer.
