Baba's Grill

I was in the area and looking for a Mediterranean joint to grab lunch between appointments. This one caught my eye with the picture of food on the marquee (or the window, I forget) as I pulled up to a light. It's also what I called my paternal grandmother (Baba), so that sealed the deal for me. It seems like a family place - possibly family owned and run, with lots of other middle eastern families coming in to dine. There was plenty of seating (booth and table). I placed my order at the counter and waited only about 20 minutes, maybe less. The grilled vegetables were amazing!! I also ordered the shawarma chicken atop hummus and my gosh, with the garlic sauce on the side, my taste buds were in heaven!! Exactly what I hoping for! Everything was hot/ cold and fresh! When I'm back in the area, I will return! The staff is nice as well! Beautiful people 😍

My go-to for Middle Eastern whenever I am in Detroit. It is almost always my first stop after getting off the plane at Metro. I pick up the $70 family dinner and it feeds 5 of us for 2 days. BEST baba ghanoush I have EVER had. Friendly people. Large portions. I sometimes book trips to Detroit not really to see the family but to eat at Baba's.

I ordered 2 chicken ceaser salads that clearly stated on the website $7 without chicken and $8 with chicken, upon receiving my food the price shot up to $30 total. I kindly asked for a refund and was met with a lot of attitude from young lady working (blonde hair). I was then asked to not return when I brought the issue to her attention. I do not recommend this place to anyone, customer service is completely unsatisfactory.

I was excited to try the “chicken cream chops” but what we got was plain chicken with a little bit of cheese on it. The chicken had no cream whatsoever. It was very hard and dry and did not taste good to the point that we couldn’t even eat it. I could also barely cut into it and had to get a knife and it was still difficult to cut, the inside looked very weird as well. We will have to throw out the entire tray, an unfortunate waste of food and money. We also ordered “babas for 2” which was good in taste and portion.

I had to put 1 star to get ur attention today we attended ur restaurant over all the food was perfect everyone enjoyed it the lamp chops was delicious but the waitress attitude that she had with us cause we just told her that the forks failed on the ground and we need a new ones she was disappointed the way treated us.
