Applebee's

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I hadn't eaten here in a long time. We had a gift card so decided to eat. They have some really good combo meal deals. You get quite a bit of food with your choice of an appetizer with your two meals. The food was really good and worth the price. I have to admit I was apprehensive of how good the food would be. Might require a return visit which I didn't expect to do.

Went for lunch during the week and it wasn't very busy. The food was pretty good and the place was clean. Server was ok. Unfortunately the hostess was very rude. She barely acknowledged us, just asked how many were in our party and sat us. On the way out she just sat there on her phone and didn't say anything to us either. Apparently she needs to find a different job because she doesn't understand the basic role of a hostess is to welcome someone into a restaurant and greet them politely and then wish them a good day on their way out. And she wasn't some young teenager either, she was a LOT older, and should know better. It's quite an embarrassing representation of Applebee's and whoever runs this establishment should make sure the hosts are doing their job. The host is the first impression when you walk into a restaurant and this was a very bad first impression. There are plenty of jobs out there if you don't want to be a hostess and practice basic politeness.

Our food arrived hot, which is a bonus, as it doesn't always happen at this restaurant. We had to wait 20 minutes, but to then be seated at a dirty table was disappointing. I've always had the staff grab us a high chair if we requested one, or they offered to find one if you were carrying a baby, not today, I had to find one myself. The server didn't appear like he wanted to be there, didn't smile, didn't offer me a refill on my drink and we had to flag someone else down to get the drink from the bar, that we ordered shortly after being seated, while waiting for the appetizers. The appetizers arrived before the drink. With the cost of a meal rising and staff not appreciating our business, I think we will eat at home more.

Won't be coming back. I understand things went downhill since Covid, but was not impressed at all. To be quite honest, the food was overpriced and overcooked. The portions are quite small for the amount of money you are paying. I didn't actually have any expectations going in, but it was a disappointment. It felt like the food was frozen and just microwaved to order. Just not a good experience at all.

Food was great. Chicken wonton tacos are the bomb. Only thing that sucked was one of the employees came and sat right next to me when when the whole bar was empty and the BO on this guy was so bad it made me want to vomit. He was told by the manager to get away from the bar considering he was still on the clock. 30 min later he came and sat next to me again. I had to leave and go next door to the Texas roadhouse.
