Maid Rite

Had great experience first time in to pick up food for dinner. Very friendly counter service! Food was great, the hot turkey sandwich was my fav, big chunks of real turkey!!! Only 36$ for hot turkey sandwich, hot beef sandwich, fried mushrooms, goulash, big maid rite basket with a chocolate malt (not pictured , it didn't make it home!!!).

Of course they have the traditional Maid Rites, but they also have quite a selection of other "comfort foods." The staff was very friendly and the food was good. Some people would probably call the dining area dated, but to me it was pretty much how it should be. There is a large corkboard that hangs next to the front entrance that is covered with local business cards, making the vibe very neighborhood diner. Will definitely eat from there again.

I've heard so many people in the local area talk about how much they have always loved the food here and about the long history the place, and its reputation, have had here In Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The signature sandwich that most of them are talking about is very unique in that its flavour and distinction are found only here. The best way to describe it is if you took your favorite hamburger helper and added diced onions and then mixed the whole thing with the classic NY System ground hot wiener sauce. .it's very good if you have never tried it
