Decided to try Roosters tonight after a friend raved about their wings. I placed a to-go order of chicken strips along with 30 wings to give them a fair shot. The chicken strips were delicious. Lightly breaded and crispy with tender white meat. However, the wings were a miss. The sweet thai chili had a great flavor but the garlic and the mild did not seem to have any sauce adhering to the wings themselves. And the worst part for me was the texture. Lightly breaded, juicy, and jumbo wings would normally be a best seller for me. But whether it was the 10 minute trip to get the wings home or something else, the wings tasted terrible. Think boiled meat tossed in sauce. It's like they just weren't finished. A pan sear or a grill would have gotten them across the finish line. And I suspect they might be better ordered at the restaurant. But after a mostly failed $50 test, I'm not eager to find out. Edit: I decided to re-review Roosters after a friend of mine wanted to go there. The food was hot and everything was very reasonably priced and delicious. I have since been back several times to the point I would call myself a regular. While they can become quite busy, I've always felt like the service was good. The only reason I still subtract a star is because the food can be inconsistent. Sometimes the wings are crispy with a light saucing. Other times you can't pick a wing up without it dripping sauce. And I still can't forget my boiled wing takeout incident. Even still I think it is a worthwhile dining experience. Especially since the baked mac n cheese is quite literally the best I've ever had.

Seriously the worst chicken and tenders we’ve ever had. The rub on the wings and the golden Carolina sauce were both so thick it gagged us. I made the mistake of trying the “award-winning” salad dressing. Think French dressing with added corn syrup. It was the sugariest, most dreadful lettuce experience of my life. Service was inattentive and “extremely busy”, although the place was at about 25% capacity. Go to John’s.

Friendly place with allot of choices at reasonable prices. I had the dumpster fries with wedges and I should have just done that, it was allot for about $7. The wings are really big and cheaper than most places given recent price increases. I got Garlic and Buffalo sauces, I wish I would have asked for them to be crisper and all drums( $1 more) since the flapper part of the wing is not edible. Cold beer and clean bathrooms. Friendly attentive staff, plenty of TVs, and plenty of parking.

Tried something a little different. Ordered the chicken tenders which were surprisingly good. The large order consists of 4 tenders which are a nice size. I got my sauce on the side. Ordered the Onion Feathers and they are onion petals without the bloomin' part. Small order but they are only 3.99. Sauce for the onions was heavy on the horseradish. I love their wings and have had them on a few occasions. Service was good but servers was super busy on a Sunday afternoon. Large tables of people and a huge section. Remember to be nice to your server and tip them well!
