Montego Grill

I was excited to try this place after the overall great reviews. It was such a waste of time and money going over there. I did the online ordering. Although the lady was pleasant, the food was anything but. Husband and I both got the Jerk Chicken plates. He wanted corn medley and veggies with his. Got home and they gave him the rice and peas instead of cabbage. He was not happy as he can not eat peas. So all he had was a ring portion of corn medley to eat with his chicken. Anyway, we both thought the chicken was dry. Although it was a generous portion, it was not good. It lacked flavor. Didn't have much flavor at all. Not much different than unseasoned grilled chicken. The plantains were hard and dry. I would think if nothing else, those should be delicious. Cabbage, meh. The rice and peas were perhaps the best tasting thing on the plate but all in all, I will not be back. It was not worth the 15 minute drive or the money. I was so disappointed. Maybe this was an "off day"? IDK but it is my first and last visit, so I'll never know.

Customer service is always superb. The food preparation is what's not consistent. My first try was about two years ago and was so excited that I lived close to a really good Jamaican restaurant. We have tried different plates every few months and we haven given up on ordering from there anymore. Meats are cooked too fast...tough/chewy, gravies are watered down now and patties are just warm. I actually got married in Montego Bay so this is what made me choose the restaurant but sadly we won't be going back any time soon.

We just had the most delicious Jamaican food since we've been here for over 20 years. We've traveled to Jamaica quite frequently and the cuisine here is exactly like it is there in the beautiful islands. The oxtails had flavor popping out of this world as well as our curry goat. For the first time ever I ate all of my rice and peas. The service was excellent. I felt like Mrs. Elaine was my own grandmother. We are immediate future customers FOREVER. Thank you waking our palates back up Mrs. Elaine and thank you for your kindness. You made a horrible day for me into a fabulous one!

I thought this restaurant looked legit from the pictures of the food. Please if you have any value for your money, don't spend it here. I ordered the oxtail plate and also the Red Snapper. The oxtail tasted like they poured Grace's oxtail seasoning in it and left to cook. No authentic flavor. The fish was old and smelt really bad. I was so disappointed. The rice and peas were okay. That's what my son ate. Please don't waste your money. To the owners: you have some nerve serving bad Jamaican food to Gwinnett residents. Shame.

8/16/19. I am a JAMAICAN. I am not the best cook. BUT THIS RESTAURANT NEEDS A CHEF. BECAUSE THIS IS THE WOOOOOORRRRRRRSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEE FOOD EVER. I would advise people to run very far away. Do not eat there . I ordered soup and oxtail it taste like they boil it in water without seasoning. It tasted like the laced the soup with sugar. The rice and peas I don’t know what that was very disgusting. There is no words to describe this place. They need to fire the chef. I wish there was a quarter star to rate this place. Lord have mercy I pray for them.

Food is delicious! Pumpkin soup and oxtails were authentic and very good. The only thing I am not 100% pleased with was the lack of good customer service. Had to wait a very long time for the codfish fritters and our server was not attentive. We had to call the restaurant from my cellphone to have someone bring us something to drink. Maybe they were short staffed. I don’t know, but the food was great nevertheless.
