Really nice meal with my wife and kids there yesterday. Beautiful vegan salads. Coffees were very good. Prices reasonable and friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere.

4 of us enjoyed breakfast at Merri Cafe this morning after parkrun at Kirkdale Reserve. The easy ordering system via qr code scanning with quick and our food and coffee arrived quickly. I really enjoyed the breakfast wrap gluten free option and the coffee was great! Thank you 😊 💓

Food is great. Staff at the cafe are condescending and unhelpful. There is an expectation that you have perfect eyesight and are completely able to see tiny signs and know the elaborate system of ordering food. Very exclusionary vibe from staff and system at cafe.

Average cafe, a little pricey - but this isn’t why I’m writing a review…
I ordered an iced long black on a hot day. After a few minutes as the ice melted, I noticed floating ‘sea monkey’ like things in my drink. Initially I assumed they were from the mug which may have been dirty, so I reported this to staff and they gave me another drink. Unfortunately with the new drink the same thing happened again. After looking closer, I saw that each ice cube was noticeably filthy.
Before we left I politely showed the waiter and informed them that the floaties were caused by dirty ice. Unfortunately, the waiter completely dismissed and denied my concern and advised they had cleaned their ice machine and that the ice should be fine. This was disappointing as dirty ice can make people sick.
A simple apology would have prevented me from writing a 1 star review. If you are staff at The Merri Cafe and you're reading this, CLEAN your ice machine!

Good food in a great location. It was cold in the outside booths in Winter but would be beautiful on a sunny day.

needless to say it emulates the principals of ceres, but i didn't find the food overwhelming impressive. we had green eggs which was very ordinary and yaki tori with smoke salmon which was not bad.
however, you can't beat the ambience - it is in a very nice setting.

Curt, unwelcoming staff…. The vibe in the cafe is out of whack with the rest of CERES.
