It was really good! Nice foods and drinks also very friendly staffs. I highly recommend this place when you come to Paddington. This is the right place for coffee, food and drink and then you can have a look the clothes or antique shops after having lunch here.

After coming in for Father’s Day brunch, my family and I were blown away with the amazing food, drinks and service provided by the staff at the Java Lounge. I ordered the vegetarian bagel and treated myself by adding bacon… it was absolutely incredible! Can’t wait for our next visit, hopefully on a day that doesn’t bring the crowds. Will definitely recommend this venue to my friends!

My favourite breakfast place. Cozy and comfortable to spend time both in and outside. Good selections of menu, good portion and tasty food. Staff are friendly and attentive. My uber somehow stopped working and one of the staff explained how I could get to another place. Very kind of her much appreciated

Have always wanted to give this place a try! Have driven past it countless times over the years and always thought it looked like it had such a nice relaxed vibe to it. Finally went on Sunday morning with my partner for breakfast. I had the avocado smash and my partner had the big brekkie. Food was generous and the flavours in the avocado smash were on point 👌🏽 service was fantastic. Fast, friendly and efficient. The cafe had such a cute homely feel to it. Definitely a great local cafe that I will frequent from now on 😊

Decided to give this place a whirl the other morning. Glad we did it was a cute little cafe in a great spot amongst The hustle and bustle of Paddington. I had the zucchini and corn fritters with smoked salmon and poached egg which was a very generous serving (fabulous for the price) and Em had the avocado smash with poached egg and feta. Both agreed the meals were delish and definitely wanted come back and try a few more of the menu items 👌🏼 <br/>

We came here for breakfast as you can see. Again, I went for smashed avocado... I should start switching it around for review purposes. M had the big brekkie. It's your standard cafe food - nothing to complain about and yummy smoothies which are perfect for the Brisbane heat.

Dined in on a busy Sunday morning and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to free up. They let us order our coffee while we were waiting. Once seated they took our food orders straight away and we waited about 15 minutes for the food to come out. It was presented well and tasted great although the eggs were slightly overdone. $5 for the small amount of avocado they give you is a bit steep and probably wouldn't order it again. Overall it was a good experience with good service!

We live around the corner but don't grab coffees or breakies often. Still, this is the king of the trammies corner café strip for a reason. Excellently consistent coffee and food and value for money. Did I say it's bus/child friendly too? Trying to find a fault is hard. Parking?

Loved their hot chocolate. I ordered a big breakfast, delicious. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Definitely a place I would recommend for breakfast.

Come here quite often and usually have a good time, acceptable food and coffee, good atmosphere, friendly staff, good chance for a chat, etc. However I recently ordered scrambled eggs. MISTAKE! It seems (and I now realise in common with many cafes it seems) they must use some sort of pre-prepared egg mix. The results comes out DENSE and repulsive -- quite unlike the light fluffy delicious scrambled eggs that even I as an incompetent cook can make at home. Hint to chef: take 2 eggs, break into a bowl, beat briefly with a fork, add a little butter and water, put in a saucepan and stir till nearly cooked, remove from heat. How difficult is that? Why do cafes take this short cut? I still have a disgusting strange eggy coating in my mouth many hours later.

Only ever been here for coffee and cake. The coffee has been good, but the cakes are usually average cabinet fare. The service is OK-maybe I missed it, but there were no obvious signs as to whether it was table service or not, leaving us awkwardly milling around the counter for quite a while until we were told. It's a nice place to sit outside and people watch, and it's open a bit later too if you fancy a sweet treat after 3.

Nice vibe and quick friendly service for a busy Sunday morning. Coffee was good. Breakfasts were OK - muesli a little dry even with the extra milk and the avocado on toast with 2 poached eggs was overpriced. Still set in a lovely part of town and I'd say great for a sit down coffee.

Stylish deco, good service. Love those paints on the wall.<br/><br/>To be honest, the coffee here was quite average. The portion of the food would be a bit small for me, ordered a egg benedict with bacon and a vegetarian bagel. Nothing to comment on the egg benedict, it is just average one. I like the veggie bagel, all ingredient were fresh, and the grilled cheese within was delicious.<br/><br/>Nothing goes wrong with this shop, but the management needs to put something exciting in the menu to match the stylish shop front.

Probably one of the historical cafe staples of paddington - I grew up in the area but left for a few years. Now that I'm back, I'm disappointed in the feel of this place - it's changed. 3 years ago it was welcoming and comfortable. I felt rushed to pick my food, even though it wasn't particularly busy and then the food came out. Nothing wrong with the food or the coffee, but at the end of the week, the most memorable thing about the visit was the (poor) service. I'll probably still go back, but I'd be expecting more. Maybe they've become a bit comfortable in the place in the cafe scene of paddington, or maybe they were just having a rough day. Either way, time will tell - And I'd still recommend everyone tries it once and makes their own judgement.<br/><br/>Hoping the next time will be better.

Paddington prices. Came here with my best mates. Had the fetta and avocado smash - basically 2 poached eggs with a bit more on toast. The gourmet sausages were $5 so all up $21.50. Fair enough. Hold on, I'm in Brisbane not Sydney. Paying over $20 for breakfast in Sydney is getting commonplace (sigh) but Brisbane? Maybe things have moved on. Seeing that others have commented on the pricing, you can make your own judgement. Food was OK, no demerits.

This coffee gets me out of bed every day!. Due to the unfortunate circumstance that I have no decent coffee around my workplace, I go out of my way every day to get my fix from the friendly folks at Java. The only issue I have is that the coffee doesn't last longer, and leaves me wanting a second cup later in the day...delivery service perhaps...<br/><br/>But it's not just about the coffee, the food is delicious, fast and fresh and the staff....how they have managed to have so many happy, helpful and pleasant staff under 25 I have no idea. All around a great place if you're looking for a bloody great coffee, breaky, lunch or just a chat! Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Java Lounge - Paddington, Brisbane. A staple of the Paddington dining scene, a neon sign lights up the strangely situated joint into a lively venue for a meal if the crowd is anything to go by (correlation =/= causation). The Java Lounge has been a long-time staple of the area, and an early icon of the dining out scene that was mostly regulated to the surrounding suburbs.Lots has changed, but this cafe is still standing. There is not an awful lot that I can talk about with the Java Lounge outside of their product. Most of the observations on Java Lounge are by a mere glance from the outside. There is a whole row of tables lined up al fresco. <br/><br/>In the past, many times eating out have inevitably been in the local area; with the Java Lounge - not only on the main street area - but also centrally located, this is one place that I have driven past a lot and eventually have taken notice. The Java Lounge is surrounded by several types of specialty stores, and is not far from the Antique Centre. By some sort of Schrodinger-esque scenario, the place is not ostentatious, yet it stands out with its odd, contrasting design. Eccentricity is king in this part of town. <br/><br/>The reason I cannot talk about it too much is because I have not set foot in it. Instead, the order was more or less to go - for a later time. My sister had a meeting here with someone, and it was my dining buddy and I's role (again) to look after the baby. After about an hour of babysitting, it was time to go back and pick her up. To say thank you, see got a few coffee orders to go - plus babycino for her daughter - and a bit of a sweet to test the place out. <br/><br/>As for a description of the general menu, that is what it is - general. The options essentially to be listed off include the usual range of breakfast items, sandwiches, plenty of sweets and a slightly extensive drink selection. Had I eaten here and ordered something like that, the opinion could well have differed a lot. <br/><br/>She knew the usual order, it was a double-shot cappuccino. While Piaza D'oro has never been a real guarantee when it comes to a coffee out, this time around I was quite surprised. This coffee was really good. It had a lot of fruity notes to it, and was well-crafted: creamy foamy head, well extracted espresso flavour and was at an agreeable drinking temperature. <br/><br/>She was also well aware of my insistence that I cannot review on a coffee alone, and usually sneak a sweet to balance the critique. Therefore, she got a surprise sweet - a chocolate brulee slice. One definite aspect about it was the generous serving, it was nearly the size of a building brick. The type of chocolate they used was good quality - it was rich, creamy, smooth and tasted more dark than milk. It was mixed into a creamy consistency finished off by a caramalised crunch. <br/><br/>So, I can tick the Java Lounge off the hit list around the city. Would I go into it? Maybe. To experience what it is like on the inside, but there is such a big dining world out there on the doorstep and surrounding streets. Still, it helps to show how the cafe dining scene of "old" contrasts to the exciting, colourful, burgeoning dining scene that is going on all around town. The coffee and cake were good, and that is enough to recommend testing it out.

Way Overpriced. Definitely wont be back again. When paying $16.50 for a burger I'd expect at least a small side of chips or salad. Unfortunately the burgers were just average too and it was hard to taste any of the ingredients with such an overpowering cumin flavour. Ordered a ham and cheese toastie for the kids which they couldn't even bite in to. Just such a waste of money and disappointing after reading such good reviews.

This is my favourite cafe in Brisbane. I've tried other cafes that are closer to my house, but nothing beats a Java brekkie. I always come back for more. Staff are very friendly & select great music.

Just OK. Nice local cafe with a great vibe, food is ok, slightly overpriced, however the waitress working at the till was either having a bad day or didn't want a part of customers. Was overcharged for a meal and upon questioning the price of the food, she looked at us like idiots, explained the price, and when we stated we hadn't actually ordered or received what she had charged us for, (we had changed our order before the food was delivered) she rolled her eyes and without a real apology handed us money from the till, after we paid her card. Had been going to the the Java Lounge regularly are it's our local, however next time we will go the extra distance for better service.

Well I've certainly frequented many, many cafés around Brisbane and some might call me a bit of a coffee tramp, but Java reserves a special place in my caffeinated heart (and loins). <br/>It's the only cafe I've been to that feels like 'Home', like 'Cheers' with froth. In fact, it's better than my home because my place doesn't serve piccolos that are like liquid high fives, nor will find you on a visit to my abode, avocado smash that has made me late to work 12 times.<br/>But what really sets Java apart is the outstanding chat from the staff, spearheaded by owner/operator Nick 'Just Sayin' Allan. Set yourself up with a high fivin piccolo and you're likely to solve such riddles as 'What's the collective noun for hobbyist cyclists?' And also 'How old IS Eddie Murphy?'.<br/>Great chat, brilliant good and outstanding coffee is all in the Java Showbag. Go get yours kids

Go-To Cafe in Paddington. With consistently great food and coffee, Java Lounge is my go-to cafe in Paddington. Would recommend anything with poached eggs as they are always cooked to perfection. That being said, everything I've tried at Java Lounge has been delicious. I get coffee from Java almost every day, and the staff are always friendly and hard-working. Would recommend highly to everyone as they are family friendly with a laid-back atmosphere yet efficient in producing high-quality food.

Great service and excellent food. Have always loved this cafe as the food is consistently good, as is the service. We went there for brunch on Saturday and the menu has been updated. It was good before, and it's still good. I had the zucchini cakes with smoked salmon which was just gorgeous. My husband had the wagyu burger which he raved about (and wishes was a permanent fixture on the menu). The milkshakes were generous in size but could use more chocolate flavouring. Tasted like there was ice added which seem to water them down too much. It's a great place to take a toddler as toys are provided and it has a bright, welcoming ambience. Highly recommend it.

Maybe we drew the unlucky straw with Java Lounge? But with the choice of breakfast / brunches places around, I certainly won’t be recommending it to anyone or going back there to see if it was an anomaly in a hurry.

Consistent food & service. This place is always consistent with food, drinks and service. <br/><br/>I have had various dishes over time and they always taste great, there specials menu is always a good start if you can’t decide on any one thing. The staff are always friendly and fast! It’s the place you go if there is a fight about where to go for breakfast and one cannot be chosen. It is also one of the only places I have found where large groups are accommodated easily, this can be hard to find in Paddington sometimes!<br/><br/>I have also seen Darren Lockyer here a few times!

Still solid. No problems with this place. Breakfast serves are a little on the small side, but coffee is always good and staff are friendly and positive. Food comes out relatively quickly and the prices are only slightly above average for paddington.

Walking past the Java Lounge neon sign and into the cafe was like walking through a time warp, the place seemed to be just about identical to my last visit so many years before. One of the elements that made the Java Lounge such a great place to hang out was the very relaxed feel of the place and I was elated that the same feeling of calm and relaxation came over me once we were seated. The couches were there and all seemed right, the only change was to some of the artwork for sale around some of the walls.<br/>

Had brekky there back in March and really enjoed it. My wife had a dish that came with chorizo and that I could not stop eating as it was yummy. Coffee and french toasts were good too. I would happily go back.

Eat / Drink / Love?. Java has always been a pleasant wkend breakfast ritual .. So disappointed to have to say our most recent visit was lacklustre... And even more so from a vegetarian perspective. Coffee was great, no problems there. BUT, upon ordering the haloumi, avo and poached egg on sourdough, we experienced: paper thin haloumi, a spattering of avocado and ordinary poached eggs. This dish usually comes with ham, and as we are Vego we asked to replace with mushrooms instead. This was overlooked and when the meals came out with ham and no mushrooms..... the dish was returned to the kitchen and brought back a minute later with no ham. .. Obviously the ham was pulled from the plate.....NOT COOL if you're a vegetarian... So this was queried only to receive a shrug and "I'll check" expression. Any how the meals then came back a little while later... Cold. Overall still love but tarnished.

Lovely Coffee - however, my breakfast on the other hand was not. The Halomi stack had one thin slice of halomi, sprinkles of avo, no seasoning and one of my poached eggs came out nearing solid. Terribly dissapointed with my breakfast and feel as though the price is ridiculous for what it is.

Excellent coffee and great service. Lived in Brisbane for a year in 2012 and have now moved back to Melbourne, but I still miss my Java Lounge coffee - it's now the benchmark against which I rate all Melbourne coffee - sorry Victorian coffee snobs I think Brisbane may have outdone you!!

Diana. Passing through Paddington this morning & needed my coffee fix & Java was the first place I spotted. Plenty of outside tables free so plonked ourselves down & enjoyed two flat whites. Was Piaza D'oro so we both enjoyed, & service was swift too.

Me and my sister go to breakfast almost every saturday morning, we like to spread the love and go to many different places however we just cant stop going back to java. the food is so good and coffee even better. we are both vegetarians and she doesnt eat egg so its hard sometimes to find good breafast but this place is amazing with plenty of options. staff are really nice too always so bubbly. high praise to the java peeps

I come to java lounge quite frequently and have never been disappointed. The table service is attentive and the staff are always pleasant and seem like they genuinely enjoy the workplace. <br/>The staff go to the effort of building up a rapport with their regular customers which makes the experience very positive and enjoyable! <br/>The two chefs make equally delicious food especially the feta and avocado special. The bread is sourced from a local bakery and is always freshly delivered! I am a huge fan of the java atmosphere, food, polite and friendly staff!

Overpriced and ordinary food. Just got back from breakfast. Have been there before..but not a for a while...big disappointment..seems to appeal to younger people and the would-bes-if they could-bes...uninspiring breakfast...eggs over cooked, in spite of my requests to have the eggs yokey...why ask if they're not prepared to cook them properly....?? Table service was good..lovely girl serving us. Got the shock of my life when I paid the bill...nearly 70 Dollars for two adults breakfasts...and one piece of banana bread and 13 bucks for a bacon and egg role for my five year old son...utter rip off..for what is really glorified roadside diner food....then some twat pushes in and is allowed to do so presumably because he's chummy with the cashier...he's lucky I had my kids with me, as ordinarily I would have put him in his place....won't be going back again

Goodbye Java Lounge. I use to really look forward to a breaky or lunch at java lounge - the staff were great and the food was excellent! I think they changed management a year or so ago and I was so very disappointed with my meal after that. They seemed to keep the same menu items but the quality was no where near as good, also with portions smaller for the same prices. I haven't been back since and I'm sad to say goodbye to a favourite cafe.

Gr8 coffee-honest, reliable fare w care. Hi ... We went to Java Lounge for lunch on Monday. Good service. Simple fare well prepared. We were quickly greeted, menus, and asked if we wanted a high chair, which arrived promptly. Drinks order taken. F had a tricky iced latte order understood and delivered in good time with my frappe. We were in good time asked if we had had enough time to order - nice. Ordered mince w poached egg, F had French toast. We changed our orders after noticing the specials board. No prob w order change - we did it soon after ordering. A friend joined our table - his order taken soon after sitting. Food arrived in good time and we couldn't fault it. Reasonable value. Would be a handy, reliable local.

New Management, new Java. Been watching the Java Lounge for a while, and I'd have to say that it's taken a nice turn on the road. I did my research on the source of the ingredients and was pleasently surprised to find that their bread is organic and sourced from well respected bakery, and that the owner spends time sourcing ingredients from organic farmer markets. The coffee is great and the new chef has really upped the quality of the food, as well as the menu itself. Very much a different vibe now, feeling more like a "new" business with the new management. Looking forward to seeing how she grows. Also, great to have a business run and worked by down to earth "real" people that really do what they can to serve you and have a laugh at the same time. If I had to have a gripe it would be that I wish the place could seat more as I love going there on the weekend and it's always packed. Having said that, I've never waited long for a seat and it's nice to have somewhere (outside) to sit with my dog. My favourite on the menu at the moment is the Jaffa Pancakes....definitely a must for Java goers, new or old :)

Sunday morning starvation.... So just having discovered the wonderful world of dining out for a Sunday morning breakkie in Brisbane I have a wishlist of all the cafes, many being in Paddington, with lines for miles at many on Sunday morning, the Java Lounge was on the wish list and looked to be the best option, its with regret I say it really wasn't! <br/><br/>Arriving to be first in line for the next table we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who was happy for us to have the next table she gave us the menus and we ordered within 5 mins of arrival. Shortly after the first drink which was my dining partners Chocolate Milkshake arrived, 15mins later my chai latte arrived, whilst I must say it was a well made chai latte, at least the drinks could have been brought out together? <br/><br/>From then it was a waiting game, 1hour and 15mins after we stepped in the door, the first meal arrived on the table, it was the big vege breakky, boy were we dissappointed, 2 slices of white bread over buttered with a green tomato, canned baked beans and a couple of spinach leaves. 5mins later followed my meal, once again much left to be desired, Avocado, Tomato Slices and 2 poached eggs on Rye bread, not much worth raving about unfortunately.<br/><br/>I understand it was a busy Sunday morning, but thats $40 I wont be getting back.

Waiting a While.. I've been to Java Lounge a few times now and I find the prices fairly good for what they produce. We got there and sat down (chairs are way too close to each other) and the waiter came over asap with the menus and a bottle of water. Soon after we were asked to order. Everything up until this point was very fast.<br/><br/>After waiting about 30 minutes for a BLT and a chicken sandwich we weren't impressed and were left very hungry. My BLT was fairly good, apart from the fatty bits on the bacon and stringy lettuce. The most amazing thing about their BLTs is the bread! AMAZING bread. It's fresh and is cut nice and thick, but not too thick that it's overpowering. Also had an orange juice, was disappointed that it wasn't fresh considering the price.<br/><br/>All in all a good menu and atomsphere.

Favourite. This is a local place of mine. My friends and I always go there for breakfast. The food is always well prepared and always PLENTY to spare. The banana break is so thick and delicious. The coffee is always hot and is great. Excellent service.

Disappointed and disillusioned. Service seems to have hit an all time low in Paddington. <br/>I drive past the Java Lounge every day and had been looking forward to having a meal there. Today I took my Mum and son there for a lunch treat for my son's birthday. The young waitress promply placed menus in front of us and after we had ordered, quickly delivered a pot of tea and a can of coke. This was looking good and we settled in for a lovely experience. Unfortunately 25 minutes later we were still waiting for a simple ham sandwich and a savoury muffin from the cabinet display! When I approached the young man behind the counter, he managed to locate our order docket and commented that it 'was coming'. He seemed rather indignant that I was querying a 25 min wait and I decided to rather pay for the drinks and eat elsewhere. His comment was a curt 'we are very busy today' (no apology) as if that is considered a sufficient enough reason for such a long wait. As we were leaving his final comment was a sarcastic 'have a nice day'. Well, we did, by finding another cafe to have a meal at. We wont be risking Java Lounge again, nor will any of our family or friends.

Unfortunately while our bubbly young waiter did his best to make us feel welcome our meals were not what was described on the menu. Semi-dried tomatoes cannot be substituted for those of the full-moistured variety without first telling the customer about the change. Dissappointing.

Food is good but I found it takes a while to come out. We were really quite hungry by the time our breakfast came out. Recommend the French toast.

Have been to java a few times. Everything is fresh and tasty. Would recommend the chicken blt, pancakes and smoothie #1. However when it's busy the food tends to take a while and I would recommend booking on the weekend
