Egg Roll King

Ordered at 5, was told food would be ready 5:30. Showed up at 5:30, was told 20min. Came back after that, was told just a minute. Another 20min later, got my food, which was overcooked, bland, and in undersized portions (my fish and chips had exactly 12 fries). Veggies were burnt, beef was extremely chewy, and even their namesake was disappointing.

I really liked their egg rolls and the chow mein was good. The shrimp fried rice passable. The prices were reasonable and the restaurant clean. My order was take out which I made in person. I was told my order would be ready in 30 minutes. I came back 30 minutes later and was told it would be ready in a few minutes. Well a few minutes ended up being 30 + minutes and waiting at the front of the restaurant with people coming and going while trying to avoid each other because of covid, not to mention it was a bitterly cold night to be standing by a door that was opening and closing wasn't a pleasant experience. Had the waitress told me I had to wait another 30 minutes I would have gone and done some shopping or waited in my car where I could stay warm. The waitresses were quoting all kinds of wait times for people placing takeout orders, anything from 40 minutes to an hour. I get it that it's a busy time of year but passing off half an hour as "a few minutes " didn't impress me. Had I been told the wait time was going to be an hour I would have been okay with that. I don't think I'll go back.
