Denny's

Cost a bit much to leave hungry. Extra bacon etc. or an one egg is ridiculously expensive. Toast was burnt and hard, chicken was kinda tough. Waiter forgot to bring water until halfway through. Not busy no excuses or reasons to give someone burnt toast... it's obvious and an easy fix. Price and portion size is what it is, check the menu. Clean, comfortable booth, waiter was friendly. Guess I would go again if I felt like a $18 mediocre breakfast. Looked hard, no biscuits and gravy ?!?! Not gross, rude, dirty or anything.

Went for lunch on our way into town one day. The service was so slow - but for no reason? There were only 2 other tables and there was no wait staff there either. Whatever, we were hungry. Took our drink order and didn't bring drinks for another 10 minutes. We gave our food order with our drink order. Food came relatively fast, but was not good. Over microwaved everything and no drink refills. I don't expect anything exceptional because it is Denny's, but yikes. This isn't the first time we've had issues at this location but we won't be giving them any more chances.

Late night visit. Can't tell staff from customers as they just wander around the restaurant. People would be coming in and standing at the registers and next minute behind the counter making themselves a drink. Did not take long to be seated although the entire visit seemed to be rushed and unwelcome by the staff like we were an inconvenience to them. After our order was taken, the food came out incorrect for 2 out of the 3 meals. When we let the waiter know he apologized and took the plates back to the kitchen only for the kitchen staff to basically tell him that the food was right and to take the plates back to us and we could deal with it. Waiter then brings plates back tells us the kitchen says it's right the way it is and quickly walks off. Overall no real issues with the waiter directly, and he did fix 1of the issues of missing food although once again the kitchen staff failed and sent out absolute trash. This place definitely is at the very bottom of the barrel for places to eat in bloomington and bring 24 hours is probably the only saving grace for still being in business but I'll go to McDonald's from now on and deal with that a million times over before I return to this business. When your meals are on average 10 a person before adding a drink then your kitchen better be making the food worth the money.

Late night dining - after midnight. Since we were 6 people, they put us on the other side where tables are and then proceeded to pretty much forgot about us. Pretty sure our waiter was high, which I wouldn't care about if he would have actually gotten all the orders correct - and actually placed. And if he would not have charged people for full meals when they only ordered a couple pancakes & nothing else. Also, plastic utensils? But they two who ordered steaks did get actual steak knives. No checking how food was or if refills wanted or anything. We even had to go looking for someone to get our checks; since when do they not bring them to the table? Won't be going back even if they're the only late night option and we're 10 hours on the road hungry.

It was busy, but it's Father's Day so it was expected. We were told a 15-20 minute wait, which was fairly accurate. While waiting, I looked at a board posted about how they are hiring. In the photos, I noticed a serve safe violation. One of the cook pictures had some sort of to go cup setting on the food preparation table. Anyway, we get to the table and they take our drink order. When drinks arrive we asked for more time to choose (their menu is smaller still) Then it seemed like we were forgotten, while waiting to place our order I overheard many of the employees complaining about various situations. We get our order taken eventually and then wait another good while. I had expected my side salad at least, but it all came at once, and many things were wrong and/or missing. My father had added cheese on his hamburger order and no ketchup (was asked for during the order) and the replacement burger was falling apart in peices. Mom's order had fries as a side instead of the hashbrowns with gravy she asked for (when brought out, the hashbrown was over cooked and had a dirty griddle taste). Brother had to wait for the toppings for his toast and the ketchup, my salad had brown lettuce and it consisted of a large amount of the white bitter part of the lettuce, my "finger lickin" chicken fried chicken was over cooked and had spongey gravy that was crusty on the edges, and my requested condiment ordered along with my meal was missing and we didn't get it till my fries were cold. This Denny's used to be a hit or miss (used to be more hit than miss) but now it just seems to forever disappoint. Not once did they ask how things were, because it seemed the staff didn't care, they all seemed pretty unhappy. They weren't rude mind you, but you could tell that the moral of the team was not good. Probably best to not risk a visit here.

Ordered the steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Broccoli was cold and the potatoes needed a stick so I could lick them, they were that cold. The staff did nothing to fix the problem and walked away as I was explaining the problem. Worst service I have ever received in my life! This place has went so far down hill I would feel better eating at a soup kitchen.

Upon arrival, there was a line of 11 people trying to pay and we were told there were only 2 servers and that we had to wait. When they finally caught up with everyone paying almost 15 minutes later, they handed us menus and said to find a table in the other room. The servers were obviously overwhelmed and the place was understaffed, but once we ordered the food was very fast and the server seemed to calm down and become more friendly. The food is ok, hence the rating.
