Peddlar

Delicious poached eggs with not a hint of vinegar. Fruit toast was tasty served with local honey, not sickly sweet like mass produced products. Coffee is a nice strong brew without too much bitterness, made perfectly. Relaxed and friendly staff, as an out-of-towner we were made to feel very welcome. Pets are welcome with outdoor seating available, rug up during winter as the breeze is chilly and sit in the sun if you can!

Decided to try this cafe out for breakfast for our first morning in Beechworth. Greeted quickly and seated out on the back verandah. Coffee order taken and water and menus left with us. Coffee arrived quickly and orders taken, coffee was very good. I ordered beans, pork sausage with a poached egg and toast. My wife ordered 2 poached eggs on toast. Order arrived in good time and was very well presented. My wife’s eggs were undercooked with slightly runny whites. My pork sausage tasted old and was possibly reheated, as it didn’t taste right. The salt shaker was clogged due to the recent rainy weather, but got an unclogged one. Overall ambience, service and coffee was great, the food overall was average at best. The price was certainly at the higher end at $46. Salt and pepper grinders are cheap and would be better for a cafe of this quality. Great comfortable cafe, great coffee but we have had better food for the price.

Two stars only because the atmosphere and coffee was great! Other than that the overpriced eggs on toast with the thinnest, 1/4 rasher piece of bacon per plate was poor form. We mentioned the bacon to eggs/bread ratio to the staff who laughed it off and blamed their supplier, nothing was offered. Would not be going back and could not reccomend 😔

Recently moved from Melbourne to Beechworth and was relieved to have found the best brunch/lunch stop at Peddlar. This awesome place is my go to for succulent meat monster sandwiches using Gamze Smokehouse meat delights, first class coffee thanks to Mansfield Coffee Merchants and fresh, local and regional produce, prepared and presented with flair. Dom and the team are brilliant and passionate about what they do. You won't be disappointed!
