Quiznos

It's one of the few downtown lunch options that's neither pretentious nor expensive -- and is open for dine-in right now. And besides that, the food is pretty decent for fast food sandwiches. I had their french dip today, which was pretty good on its own -- but they were kind enough to customize it exactly as I wanted. I'm pretty sure this location is owned by a family, all of whom seem to be working there. They're friendly enough and the line moves very quickly. All in all, a very good option for a quick bite if you work downtown.

Quiznos was yum yum good. I was not kind to my Mesquite chicken sandwich. It did not stand a chance. I so miss Rosemary bread and the way they toast their sandwiches and make the onion oh so delicious. The only takeaway was the ingredients were skimp. Cannot wait to eat my other Carbonara sandwich later.

Up until early last year (2014), I worked just up the hill from this location, so, I was here fairly often. The service was always up-to-par, the food was always good, and the staff were always friendly, efficient, and smiling. I don't know what more you'd want from a chain sandwich shop. If anything, the location makes for great people watching (you're a block from the Capitol building, and being right on Congress Avenue, there is ALWAYS something going on outside. Hungry? Like Quiznos? You'll do fine here.

Easily the nicest staff I've ever interacted with in Austin. Or at a Quiznos anywhere in the USA for that matter. I drop by fairly regularly for lunch as a result. I do miss the shrimp and lobster options that are seasonal, but there's a solid selection of sandwiches to suit your tastes and the sandwiches, gyros, and salads are all reasonably priced given downtown Austin prices.
