If you're an Indian and if you'd like to have a chicken soup ask them to add less salt than usual.

Great little restaurant, we called ahead and booked a table the panang curry was delicious loved the spices and the favour profile. BYO wine 🍷 which suited us. It is self service, so be prepared to help yourself to water and glasses etc, and you need to order at the counter. The food was fresh, hot, very enjoyable. Firm four stars, we will be back.

Reasonable place with reasonable food. Good servings. Staff could be a bit more friendly and take a bit more time to ask you how are things and if you would like anything. Food was good and would eat again but nothing special that jumped out at me on the menu. The chicken cashew with rice was good but the beef chilli pot with vegetables was very oily and hard to eat. Springs rolls were the best things we had. On street parking if you can get it.

Not friendly at all staff. More Towards to rude. Quite pricey for chicken pad see ew , only 3 pieces of brocoli, some bean sprout, 1 piece of carrot and bits and pieces of chicken. Waited more than 10 minutes for this 1 dish to take away. Won't come back for sure. I should've read the reviews first before I buy.

Good sized portions. Great value lunch special offers. Tasty pad thai. Delivery is very slow, best to do pick up or dine in.

After 20 years of both eating in and getting takeaway - the (? current) middle aged woman owner accused me of not paying for a meal bought a few months (earlier!!!) when, at the time it WAS paid FOR. she still handed over the food. I've overlooked her rudeness and complete lack of customer service skills in the past but considering I have probably spent over $2,000 in 20 years at Thai No: 1 and I DID pay - it is the businesses' responsibility to check everything THEY DO even when they are "busy" (their excuse for not checking payment - it was around $3O and, prior to Covid, the business was "cash only" and had no website)- and the business should NOT belatedly accuse loyal customers of owing money because of their own poor business practices (they don't take phone numbers either when you ring to order food except for deliveries - foolish and why I had no idea about the alleged debt sooner to the time) When I phoned TODAY to make another order, the woman kept going on about me having to pay the alleged owed money and then hung-up on me. She and the son who I spoke to later today both suddenly refused to tell me their names and whether they were owner etc. WHAT??? Also the TIME a few weeks ago when I FIRST heard about this alleged debt, I had phoned in the order and had spoken to the young man (presumably her son) and he mentioned this alleged payment failure but said, as I was "a loyal customer", they would let me pick up that current order and would give me a copy of what I allegedly owed (this proved to be just an "invoice" of what I had ordered -not any other proof. The day I found out about the alleged failure to pay was also when I was recovering from recent surgery and had stayed in the car and sent my 13 year old son to "tap" my card for payment and pick up the order but this mean woman owner wouldn't let my son pick up the food and sent him back twice to the car with him telling me "the lady won't give me the food" and thus I had to get out of the car in my short nightgown to walk to the restaurant with a walking stick and talk with her in front of patrons there!! Again really - so her presumed son had NOT told the woman ANYTHING about his arrangement with me and I was standing in the restaurant dressed like that with the woman repeatedly telling me I had to pay for the other meal first! REALLY? Yes the food at Thai No:1 - Ashfield has been often very good although varied a lot in quality perhaps depending on the cook. By all means get your food here but GET A RECEIPT OF PAYMENT ALWAYS - not just the invoice attached to the plastic bag as it is NOT PROOF YOU PAID and avoid this woman and (presumably) her son in his 20s (he also didn't get it that saying "sorry" but continuing to treat me like a thief - was despicable). He will not sell additional food to me EVER again until I cough up the same amount of money AGAIN or provide him with bank PROOF that I paid - READERS - DO YOU BELIEVE HOW BADLY I'M BEING TREATED? - who keeps such proof of payment (except for large appliances under warranty) and this business doesn't offer receipts anyway - you have to ask for them. I am NOT paying a fee for a bank statement because of their business practices. Really??? Refusing to serve someone who is a previously long standing and very loyal customer is helping Thai No: 1's "goodwill" ??? I don't think they understand the concept. Hopefully this business will keep the same 'good' cooks but get managed or owned by people who care about their LOYAL customers and not this woman and her son. Better still -avoid the mother altogether and get delivery - the son delivers free of charge locally over $30 but get the receipt as proof of payment - remember this and then KEEP it - or eat somewhere else to avoid them altogether.

The food was decent, that's accounting for the egg shell in my dish. The service was what one expects from a quick lunch place. The iced coffee however was excellent. Value for money.

Very disappointed with my take away tonight. Ordered over $60 worth of curries and only realised they packed x1 less curry when I got home.It was too inconvenient for me to go back to complain so I let it pass. The Yellow chicken curry that I got was excessively salty and the potatoes were not cooked through. More sauce than chicken pieces. Think I will be looking for a new local Thai restaurant in the future.A sad Saturday night dinner.
