Sunny Point Cafe

** i want to touch base on the parking situation first. there’s maybe 8 spots in their tiny parking lot next to the cafe, so you’ll have to find it elsewhere. DO NOT PARK IN THE LOT NEXT TO FAMILY DOLLAR! the one in between family dollar and the karate place WILL tow you! tons of signs saying towing enforced, and they have a sign right when you walk into the cafe saying to not park there! don’t risk it. there’s a paid parking lot (via ParkMobile) off of balm grove ave BEHIND family dollar that was $4.50 for the whole day until 11:59pm! just do that! i’ll say the food was definitely worth the wait. there’s a bakery next door that a lot of people will grab something from while they wait for their table, which is a great idea. food at the bakery is delish and so was the cafe’s! we got the huevos rancheros, soup of the day (new england clam chowder), and the mighty good chicken sandwich — all of which were great portions for the prices. everything was amazing, truly. the service was great and efficient for a busy place. they also have goodies you can go home with such as apparel, stickers, and a cookbook. don’t miss this spot when you come to town!

Incredible food and overall menu. I wasn’t in the mood to drink, but their drinks looked amazing too. Our waitress was incredibly kind and made the whole experience even more fun. Wish I could remember her name! Loved my grits and breakfast omelette. Parking took a second to find, but we figured it out.

Every publication I read while trip planning recommended Sunny Point for breakfast!! We arrived early and got one of the last tables. Clearly everyone knows how great this place is. I normally get eggs and bacon but I tried their fried green tomato croissant sandwich, and I didn’t want it to end, so delicious!!

We enjoyed brunch here recently. A nice variety of brunch options… each of our family were very happy with their food and creative drinks. It seems to be very popular place on weekends.. we waited an hour plus but it was worth it. They had some pleasant outdoor waiting areas including a fabulous garden of flowers, herbs, etc. which eased the wait anxiety. Overall, a very delicious brunch. I wish the prices could have been a little less, but were probably the same as most popular Asheville restaurants.

The wait on a mid-morning Saturday was was about an hour and 15 minutes for 2, but we toughed it out due to the excellent reviews across multiple platforms. It was definitely worth the wait!!! There were small details such as the goat cheese with the friend green tomatoes or carmelizing the bacon on top of the shrimp and grits that elevated already flavorful menu items. I also appreciated our waitresses recommendation to get a biscuit to enjoy the extra gravy with the shrimp and grits. I will definitely return!

Buckle up kids because this is going to be a long one and you SHOULD make it all the way to the end. This little gem didn't even pop up in the top 10 when I googled breakfast in the Ashville area and I consider that to be one of the greatest travesties of all time. It is HARD to get excited about a two egg breakfast but let me just set the scene. My wife and I arrived, she miraculously chose to sit outside (she is always cold) and the magic started to happen. The environment was amazing. While we waited for our food, I saw staff members everywhere. A lady was picking fresh flowers which was down right picturesque. I saw them picking fresh fruit from their garden planted 6 ft from me. Another staff member was just picking up small pieces of trash, making it clear of any and all debris. It really showed how much the staff cares about the place. The plates arrived and I was dumb struck. The presentation was ridiculously perfect. I was instantly excited. The fruit, the sausage, the eggs the BISCUIT! The fruit was so frigin' fresh, the sausage HAD to be fresh made, the biscuit was one of the best I have ever had. The house hot sauce was absolutely amazing and the staff.... had me wanting to move to Ashville. The blackberry jam had me giggling it was so good. My wife LOVED her chai but was obsessed with the stuffed French toast and it was CRAZY good! I have a picture she didn't want to me share because she was taking such a large bite it was embarrassing. The food was great, the experience was the real gem here. I can't recommend this place enough, don't miss it if you are in the area. WAIT in line, it's worth it. Best part.... cheapest meal I had in the area all week. It broke my brain.
