Burger King

Excellent example of how a fast food restaurant should operate. The staff is friendly and efficient and the food is served hot. Especially given the need for help nowadays, this store does exceptionally well in my opinion. The manager, Robert I believe, puts forth solid effort, as do the other staff members.

Great, quick service, faster than Wendy's around the corner by far...! But there is a lack of sides/fries per order... Burger King's "large" is like a "small" elsewhere. When I get my order, no matter where I go, I always ask for a large combo, but when I get it from Burger King, it's always half full... Wendy's always overfills their fries to make it that much better... Otherwise, why get a large combo? Fries are where it's at... This Burger King definitely has smaller "large" portions than others, fries are less than the box they come in, but customer service is much better than others.

Don't ever bother with this outlet. It's Google hours are never accurate as this will randomly be closed whenever you go here. There's no way to tell if it's open until you've actually arrived, but they will still accept your order (and your money) online without hesitation. You'll usually have better luck with the Wendy's next door, but even that's not reliable. State Street is just an awful area for restaurants, and it shows.

The food here is by far the best compared to the other Burger King locations in/near Ann Arbor. I usually get the Chking sandwich from here and it is not dry like the other Burger King places. That being said, check your order before you leave to make sure nothing is missing, because that has happened to me here on more than one occasion.

Picture the scene; you just get into town after spending hours and hours on the road. You get to your hotel and are starving. There is a burger king less than 100 yards from you. You check the app for some deals, the app says that the store is open until midnight (luckily it's only a 10:15pm), and you choose the option "Take out". You do not choose the other clear option "Drive Thru" because you want to walk. The app does not state that the dining room closes before midnight. The app lies through omission. Every door is locked as you arrive; the situation is obvious to you, but unfortunately you have already payed online through the Burger King app. You try every door hoping that one might be unlocked, but—alas—you have no option but to approach the drive-thru window. The embarrassment builds as you realize the phone app lied to you. You're positioned, ready to apologize to whoever sees your pitiful silhouette standing automobile-less in the drive-thru, just wanting the Burger that you already payed for. The window opens and you are immediately yelled at. The man behind the window lacks empathy for your situation, replacing it wholly by rage. The (I'm assuming) night manager yells at you for daring to ever approach his drive thru. He makes it clear that he is doing you a favor by giving you your $5 meal "THIS ONE TIME". I just wanted a burger and the Burger King app told me the restaurant was still open for pick up (specifically not drive-through). I showed up and was embarrassed when it wasn't, but still wanted my food because I had payed for it. I was yelled at by some fellow who had obviously had a stressful night. I give two stars because I called to apologize for walking through the drive through and the man apologized to me. And the food was decent. Technology, amirite?
