Eastern Flame

Eastern Flame is my go to spot in Ann Arbor for both pick up and late night food. The Khati rolls are always amazing and they offer a diverse array of offerings. The food is served quickly but clearly is made with care... it's really one of my fav places in A2. I definitely would recommend taking your friends here for lunch, late night or take out.

As new in Ann Arbor, I was looking for some ethnic food resturants. Eastern Flame provides a variety of different options as per a combination of Middle Eastern and North Indian cuisine. "Kathi Role" was an amazing stuff. Second time it was "Lamb Karahi". Though regardless of its mild composition it was too spicy for me. So may be I should have ordered extra mild. In any case It is a good joint and a must try.

The food is excellent. I would eat here everyday if I could afford it. I believe the menu price is $3.75 for Kati rolls. However, recently they have been charging $4. That's fine. What isn't fine is that the $0.25 is considered tax. $3.75 + tax = 3.75 * 1.06 = 3.975 = $3.98 Any honest business would return the 2 cents. But I suppose it doesn't matter if you are dining in and tipping. I also feel that the Kati rolls have become smaller (I could be wrong), which is fine too. They are still very tasty!! Shalimar has decreased their portions over the years. These restaurants should realize there is more competition now, considering a new store has opened recently (although that's also very expensive). Wish there was a store with this food for a lower price, or just bigger portions!

Normally they say third times the charm, but Eastern Flame defies that statement. I've ordered food from Eastern Flame 3 times, the first time was awesome, the second time was mediocre, and the third time was so miserable that I'll never eat here again. The quality of their food is unreliable, the hummus tastes different each time. This time, it was chunky, bland, and we couldn't even bring ourseves to eat more than a quarter of it. Quantities have also become more stingy over time, the full order of hummus barely covered 1/4 of the box they delivered it in this time. I ordered a full order of hummus, chicken tikka masala wrap, and greek salad. It took 2 hours for the food to arrive (I only live 5 miles from the restaurant, and it wasn't even bad weather) even though they told me it would take an hour when I placed the order, and it turned out to be one of the worst meals I've ever eaten in Ann Arbor. It's really unfortunate especially since the first time I ate there the food was so good. Eastern Flame, you need to get a new cook or you'll soon be out of business.

i am a big fan of BBQ and i was looking a nice and authentic place for BBQ. I really liked the "Lamp Chops" at eastern flame that was awesome. Next time i tried the "Chapli Kabob" that was the best kabob i have ever ate. Specially the mint sauce with the Chapli Kabob was so delicious. I recommend you to try the Chapli Kabob and Chicken Tikka Masala at easternflame. now i am a frequent customer of easternflame and this is my first choice for BBQ. Great Food and Great Place must try.....

I'm disappointed in Eastern Flame. The food is amazing. Some of the best Middle Eastern food I've had in America, but I had a very bad experience back in November of 2011. I ordered from Eastern Flame through Campusfood at about 10:15pm. It was dinner for two, nothing big or complex. By 11:15pm my food still hadn't arrived, so I called and was told it would be 15 or 20 minutes. Ridiculous. When 20 had passed I called again. I mentioned that I wasn't happy about having to wait so long, and asked what Eastern Silent would do to keep me as customer. The guy I was taking to initially responded by saying he would hire a new driver. I had to remind him that does nothing for me before he offered my next order to be on the house. When the food finally arrived it turned out Eastern Flame had been out of an item I had ordered, and instead of calling to notify me, and ask what I would like to substitute, they picked the replacement for me. I've ordered from Eastern Flame a lot lately, but when they were nearly an hour late, and didn't take either of the times I called as an opportunity to tell me something was wrong with the order, I'm not sure if I'll be ordering from Eastern Flame again.
