La Mex

This was kind of a mixed bag for me. I thought their chips were horrid: they were cold and thick, and not very flavorful. But then my lunch came, taco salad and tortilla soup. The soup was truly spectacular; I've had lots of varieties of this but this was by far the freshest and most flavorful I've had. My taco salad was great, too.

When I mentioned to the manager that we had to cut our own quesadillas and that they were soggy, the first words out of her mouth were, "Well, I can't give you a refund." I wasn't expecting one, but her response to my feedback about her food showed that she was unwilling to at least pretend to be accommodating towards her customers. It is essential when you work in customer service to know how to make customers comfortable speaking to you, especially when there is an issue they want to resolve. Further into the conversation, she stated that the shredded chicken comes wet like that, that's how all of the quesadillas are, and next time I come I should ask for my quesadilla to be "crispy." What her comment showed was that the kitchen does not prepare their own food and it comes frozen. Aside from that interaction, the Pollo chimichanga contained nothing but unseasoned ground beef, they appeared to be reheated from being frozen. The rice for our rice and beans was unseasoned; the rice was dry. We will definitely not be returning anytime soon. The waitress we had at our table was lovely and polite, that was the only good experience we had at this restaurant.

It's funny how we only remember to leave negative reviews... My family got a pick up order and it was fast and yummy. They gave us more chips than we knew what to do with, so we made nachos with the left overs the next day. I can't wait for it to be hot enough to eat outside. We're definitely coming back as a family and for drinks this summer. Thank you la mex crew, you guys are doing great!

It's really sad to see the decline of this restaurant. Ten years ago the atmosphere, food, and service was among the best in the city. Unfortunately my visit today was not reminiscent of those times. The food was sub par, spill over ingredients fell into my tacos, olive in one, a single corn kernel another. They were cold and overpriced. The waiter was as cold as the tacos with a bad attitude, no attention to detail, completely disorganized. One high point was the house salsa, still as hood as ever, but when I tried to order a container to go the waiter forgot it, after he slammed the bill on the table and ran off in a puff to get it my patience had elapsed. Too bad, instead of La Mex tonight, drive down a little farther west on Dimond Blvd and check out Gallos, I know I will.

I LOVE this restaurant. I’ve been a steady costumer for three years. My favorite dish is the shredded beef enchiladas. They make the tortillas on site. There is a variety of dishes. They offer delicious adult beverages. The service is always friendly and professional. Two types of salsa and fresh chips accompany your meal from the start. Healthy philodendron and sombreros create a nice decor. There is a bar attached to the restaurant. The place is easy to find and there’s plenty of parking. Prices are reasonable. I encourage you to eat at this establishment and develop a craving for their tasty dishes.
