Maria Cafe

I was disappointed, by the food and service. I hate to write reviews like this, but this place needs help. I could have chalked up slow service, or unavailable menu items to personnel shortages, or product delays, but the problems here were not that. We had a few different types of drinks, between our group, and I will say that the server did a good job at refilling our coffee, albeit, we were right next to the coffee machines. Our other beverages went unattended, which typically servers would observe and ask if we would have liked any more, but they didn't, even when our table requested, the refilled beverages never arrived. To make matters worse, all of our plates had food items that came out, from the kitchen, with either cold or room temperature. When mentioned to the server, she took the cold grits to the kitchen, and immediately returned with hot ones. My colleague was impressed by the speed, mentioned he guessed they were microwaved, not replaced with fresh. The even worse frustration was with the cold soggy fries that accompanied my patty melt. When reported to the server, she apologized, and said more would come right out. Nearly half an hour later, when my whole party had finished our meals, still no replacement fries. While receiving the check, I inquired about what happened. The response was the worst part. The server had told us that since the kitchen was serving breakfast, it confused them on making the French fries. This was concerning either because she had forgotten to request new fries and was lying to cover her mistake, instead of just being honest, people make mistakes, or, truly, the kitchen personnel, whom had just used the fryer to make fries, were having issues doing what they had done a hour earlier. Either way, bad service, and disappointing food. I wouldn't go back.

Second visit. Amazing food, and not at a high end cost. Cozy environment with street side shaded seating available as well. I took my two daughters, 11 and 8 for a late breakfast on a Monday morning around 10:30am. The Cafe was not super busy nor was it empty. Our waitress, Andrea, was very attentive and friendly. She even helped out and told the kiddos there would be dishes to wash if all their food wasn't gone 😆 Excellent visit and experience. Would highly recommend.

What a great place! We've been to Stuart, FL so many times and there's always a line outside of Maria's. Now we know why. First of all, don't let the line scare you away as it moves very quickly. We turned down seats at the bar and ended up getting an inside window table. Great for people watching. Anyway, the food is deliciously homecooked and so very reasonably priced. We ordered the freshly roasted turkey over stuffing with "real" mashed potatoes, string beans and gravy for $10.95 and a chicken salad sandwich on rye with lettuce and tomato and cole slaw; again freshly made and $7.50. We both ordered unsweetened ice tea which again...guess what...freshly made. Also, there's a brunch menu in addition to the regular one until 2:00 PM when Maria's closes. We are DEFINITELY returning to this wonderful place with a great, friendly staff and extensive menu.

Going there after a 5K race on a Saturday morning, we only had to wait 10 minutes for a booth. The older gentleman who works there ensured we had a booth as we were waiting outside for one. All who worked there were attentive and food was great. The view from outside was beautiful. Prices are reasonable and I would definitely go again!
