Captain D's

Update 2-7-22 Corporate and this location made it right with a new Gift Card. 🙂🙂🙂 Gift card was not loaded at this location..... Back on 12/18/21 I purchased a gift card with $15 on it. Today 2/5/22 it was going to be used online for an order for the first time. Website said there was zero on it. Had to be a mistake so I called the number on it.... sure enough it wasn't loaded. I called the store I purchased it from, and was told that's impossible if I had a receipt it should have been loaded and they would not help me. I've since called corporate and waiting on a call back. This review will stay at 1 star till this issue gets resolved.

We have eaten at this restaurant for the past several years, but yesterday's experience was not good. Drive thru speaker was broken so they were preparing one order at a time as you went through the line. There were 3 cars ahead of me so this took a while. I gave my order for the two dinners I wanted and got this long explanation about this dinner coming with this or that, etc and there would be an extra charge. I said fine, I wanted what I ordered. Then the explanations started again! But when I got home I wished I had gone elsewhere. The baked potatoes were old and one had a huge nasty place in the middle which you could not have missed seeing when it was cut! I ordered the new flounder and was so thin that it was ridiculous - no more than a quarter of a inch if that. I wanted fish, not crust. The shrimp was over fried so it was tough and greasy. Food seems to be a little worse each time we get food from this restaurant.

Captain D's in Springfield is the perfect place for fish, shrimp, and fried okra. My wife and I discovered Captain D's just a couple of months ago and wondered out loud how we had never heard about this excellent fast food fish restaurant. From the crowd it looks like the Senior Citizen's are keeping a secret but if everyone knew about their delicious fish everyone would be bellying up to the banquet table. If you're a Long John Silver's fanatic your new favorite place is going to be Captain D's, you won't even glance back over your shoulder. After trying Red Lobster in Springfield a couple of times to only very disappointing meals I urge you to give Captain D's a chance. You'll never cross Red Lobster's doorstep in Springfield ever again. Captain D's is the best kept secret in Springfield. Except now I've let the cat out of the bag... I never ever give out 5 stars (I'm saving that for an upcoming banquet in heaven) but if Google would let me I'd give out 4.5 stars just for excellent food alone, although you'll find the restaurant clean, pleasant, and well-managed. Make your next urge for fish and fixin's a feast at Captain D's.

Prior experience at a Capt d's in NC put us off this place, but we desperately wanted some battered cod that we wouldnt have to get a bank loan for lol so finally gave in and went into this Capt D. So glad we did, the staff were very cheery and welcoming and our fish and shrimps were so good we ordered another lot to take home. Even cold it still tasted good. Place was pretty clean, couple tables needed a wipe but other than that a great experience, we've been back already and will definitely return for more soon im sure :)
