Settle Italian Restaurant

Great food in a setting full of character. Had the veggie lasagne - genuinely couldn’t tell it was veggie - tastiest one I’ve ever had. Note that Matteo runs this place himself so if you are looking for waiters running around grinding black pepper on demand, it’s not going to happen. If you’re not in a rush it’s great.

Fantastic afternoon at Matteos! Great communication before booking, I am gluten free and nothing was a problem, matteo could adjust the menu to suit me, when we arrived, we were welcomed with a smile, matteo was the only person working that day and there were 10 of us to look after! What an amazing job he did, attentive, attention to detail and the food was absolutely lovely! We will certainly be returning, it is so nice to be able to find a restaurant that takes your intolerances into consideration And still produce absolutely gorgeous food! Thank you so much, you made my birthday really special thankyou!! A definite visit if your travelling to settle! Beautiful food !!!

Quite a unique place, haven't been anywhere quite like it. I'd say the food is similar to good home cooking. The serving/cooking is all done by one person, it wasn't too busy when we were there but can imagine you may have to wait longer at busier times. Food very tasty, fresh and a good price. Intimate setting with not many tables

I spend a fair amount of time in restaurants and they can often be easily forgettable. Not Rosa and Matteos though. As soon as we arrived Matteo made us feel so welcome and he was happy for us to have our dog with us. The food was really very tasty made with fresh herbs and products and was bursting with flavours, we had meatballs, meat lasagne and vegan lasagne ( which he prepared earlier in case I may want it, as I told him at booking I was vegan) Matteo remembered our drinks just as we all liked them and kept them coming when we asked. The ambience was great authentic and cosy. We are all local and will be back again and again.

Booked it for me and my wife on Saturday night for my 50th birthday weekend. The restaurant was quiet but so was the rest of Settle. Metteo was very welcoming and the place was cosy. We had olives and Garlic prawns for starters, very nice. Mains. I had meat balls and pasta, missus had Matteos cannelloni. Both lovely :) Big portions so we didn't manage to eat it all. Will visit again next time we visit again.

This place is definitely a one of a kind. We came here during our visit to settle, and this place alone will certainly make us come back to the town centre. It's among the best Italian food we've had (which is a lot). The king prawns starter had us shutting our eyes to savour it, because it were absolutely divine. The carbona that I had was faultless, the sauce was a little runnier than I'm used to, but it was still thick enough and very tasty. My partner's meatballs were devoured very quickly - the were amazing too, especially the sauce. The pasta on both dishes was cooked perfectly. Lovely fresh bread served with the starter and a main. The only small thing we have to say is that the meatballs were quite salty, however the very nice sauce made the salt a nice level. The thing I find the most amazing, is that it was one man doing everything on his own - literally. The cooking, the waiting, the phone, everything. Kudos to him!! I'm absolutely amazed, and he was very friendly and on the ball with everything. Very inspiring. The atmosphere was very genuine Italian. It was in a stone basement style room, very intimate. Very unique. Proper Italian music and lovely warm lighting, it was very relaxing. I can't wait to visit again.

First time at this place for me and my two children. Called first to make sure there was space for us as it was getting close to closing time, he politely reassured me he would be able to accommodate us. First things first - THIS CHEF / OWNER CAN COOK !! The BEST pizza I’ve ever tried, my children want to go back tomorrow already (they are very fussy and I’ve ate at so many restaurants world wide). Second - The owner was on his own - HE WORKS SO HARD !!! His helper was on holiday… he couldn’t do enough to help, he worked over time to serve us and the table next time us, he even made time to talk to customers and we all had such a laugh!! SO FRIENDLY ! He’s a top business owner doing his best. I couldn’t ask for anymore. Fresh / quality ingredients, very tasty and pizza bases all home made, warm plates. I know how hard it is running a small business in todays times as I have one. I’ve just read through the 1 star reviews and am so disappointed by some peoples LACK OF UNDERSTANDING - some people expect 100% every day and it’s just not able when your running a business on your own… a little kindness goes along way, why not politely say there is a problem when your there - instead of going home and being a keyboard warrior! Wine was nice - I left it to his choice. I watched him cook for 20 minutes, he prepared fresh home made everything and we talked about our struggles of reaching VAT 85,000, card fees stealing our profits, government not raising VAT threshold since 2017 , suffocating small businesses. He said 3 local small businesses have just closed locally. If you want to see lovely small businesses like this around towns - visit them - support them - understand them and be patient- we are just humans working hard to serve. Unless you would think green king, Mc Donald’s, subway and papa johns or BIG VAT registered restaurants. Keep up the great work Matteo 💪🏼 probably see you tomorrow! 😋

Matteo offers a very authentic Italian cuisine, which is fantastic and so fresh! The cave like restaurant is such a delight - it is a very different dining experience with excellent food and the most passionate chef possible! Thank you for yet another fabulous evening 🙏 When I am up this way again I will certainly be back!
