Great location, right on the Rue Rivoli, and perfect for people-watching. You can sit outside and watch the people go by, or you can go into the restaurant which is decorated very cute, French diner-y, if you can kind of picture that. My friend ordered some kind of a French breakfast, which looked like the most unreal, glorious spread I've ever seen; but since I'm vegan, I ate the bread that came with it, with marmalade, coffee, and fresh orange juice. There wasn't much bread; I would ask for more next time. A decent breakfast in my opinion, and of course the bread and marmalade were EXCELLENT. Best marmalade I had in Paris (I didn't try many other places though). Not my "favorite" but pretty good!

While I'm far from an ice cream snob, I do know amazing ice cream - Los Angeles, my hometown, has plenty of it. And I'm sorry to say that Berthillon doesn't fall under that category. So many blogs and people recommend Berthillon as a must-try when in Paris, and I bought it - it's aesthetically pleasing ice cream and has a lovely storefront, at the very least. I love the tiny cones and the old English font of the Berthillon sign - very charming. But the ice cream itself fell, in my book, very short. I stopped in with my mom on our last day in Paris - the line was surprisingly quite short. At first, I got their honey flavor (there are no samples, but I almost always like honey-flavored things). It was sickeningly sweet. My mom enjoyed her pistachio and finished my honey cone when I told her I wasn't into it, but then offered to return so I could try something else. I then tried vanilla (always a safe bet) which was once again, way too sweet. Texture was good, but that was basically it. It was extremely forgettable overall.

le cadre a première vu ne me paraissait pas plaisant mais j'ai vite oublié ce détail car pour une quarantaine d'euros on a pu prendre le menu dégustation, plusieurs plats choisis par le chef selon les produits de saison. et que dire... a part que c'était un délice gourmand plein de surprise, une surprise qui nous donne l'impression d'avoir eu une reduction la fourchette tellement le prix est petit par rapport à ce que l'on reçoit.
