Beautiful walk on the pier to get to Ruby's. There was a wait to eat but not too bad 20 minutes. The staff from entry were awesome. No issues with the mask because they have patio seating area. Eddie was the best! He was super attentive and fast with service. Had a great attitude and was friendly. I had 4 kids who all seemed to need something and he handled them like a pro. Always smiling and making it happen 😊 I spoke to Tammy the general manager to tell her how great Eddie was and she was awesome too! Great attitude and service all around. For food we had the fried beans appetizer, fish and chips, seafood combo, Ruby's burger, chicken strips and onion rings, grilled cheese kids meal. The fried shrimp was crispy outside, good flavor. The fish was a kinda greasy and tasted like bland frozen fish. The fries were good. The onion rings were crispy and pretty good flavor wise. We had shakes of course! Thats a must when visiting there. One strawberry banana, oreo +chocolate chip cookie dough mix, strawberry banana +oreo. They were delicious but melted really fast. The ranch, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauces were flavorful and delicious. The prices are moderate but the portions are big and filling. Its always been a good experience each time we've gone over the years. The restaurant is surrounded by the end of the pier. Ocean views all around as your eating. Its a great place to make memories with the family or friends.

Great place to get breakfast, we were lucky and it was empty when we arrived but I think it’s because the sign in their doorway had people confused. Wish I had gotten a picture, but it said something like takeout only during a specified period of time. We saw other people sitting and assumed they were waiting for a takeout order til their drinks were brought. And right after we sat down they were hit with a wave and the patio seating was full. Even so the wait time wasn’t too bad. Our server was great, but at one point they did get overwhelmed since everyone had come at once we had to wait for little things like jam for toast but again, not a big deal. They were cleaning the tables really well after people were leaving. Great food, service and a beautiful view.

Would have thought with it's location, the food would of been overpriced. I felt the price reasonable. If you are lucky enough to get a window you will have an awesome view. With all the updating going on in downtown, I was surprised that Ruby's has not had one. It needs to be. I felt old and tired. There are lots of smiling faces though. I was a little disappointed that one of my party ordered a sandwich without cheese, which she received but they did not inform her of the cheese baked into the bread. Thank goodness she did not have a serious allergy. Overall the food was good.

The location makes this place a must see from the start. On the beautiful Oceanside beach, this place is a clean, very friendly, old fashion diner. By far the shakes are the best thing on the menu. The decorations make this a warm and family friendly place to visit. The food came as ordered and the prices are fair for the amount of food. The fries weren't the most hot and fresh but everything had good taste. Would recommend for a nice date or even a nice beach day with the family.

We got the Ruby’s burger, ranch burger and two kids burgers, onion rings, fries, Oreo shake, peanut butter shake, and coffee shake. All of it was great! The burgers were seasoned and cooked well. My wife loved the ranch burger. The onion rings were delicious, fries were just ok. Shakes were bomb. It’s such a beautiful location—especially as the sun is going down. The only bad thing was the service. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come and take our drink orders and then about 20 min to check out because they messed up our check 3 times.

Great place to get a good burger with kids after strolling around the beach and pier. We arrive at noon on a Saturday and where seated in 15 minutes. Our server Jose was very attentive and friendly. Place inside could be much cleaner. Sweep more often. Tables wipe down througly. Lucky our family always carry baby wipes. Hard to see the ocean when windows panes have not been clean in a while.

Great view and great food! Came here to enjoy lunch with a view of the ocean and enjoyed their updated selection of burgers. Ordered their crispy green bean appetizer, crispy chicken club, hickory burger, super burger and a variety of shakes. Favorite items were the crispy green beans and crispy chicken club. Friendly service but it definitely seemed like they were understaffed. Had a good experience here but make sure you can be a bit patient.

Was a great dinning dining experience. The view is excellent having a meal on the pier off the Pacific Ocean. The food and the service Jen and Rebecca gave was excellent as well had the family in from Va and we drove over from Az for a couple of days this was to cap off the trip. Now it's time to walk down and get our feet wet on the beach.

What a great location! Sun is shining, slight breeze off the water and soaking it all up with a burger and shake.<br/>Chocolate shake was exceptional! Smooth and creamy and classic Hershey flavouring. Guacamole burger was a 4/5 ... I always say that a messy burger is a good burger. The meat was slightly pink (perfect), guacamole and Swiss cheese, loads of lettuce, tomato and sauce .... but oddly was slightly lacking in flavour.<br/>Service was super friendly (thx Jenn) and an overall good experience.<br/>Can’t give it a 5; wish I could rate a 4.25.<br/>Worth the visit.

This place was worth the walk down the pier! The atmosphere was fun, and the food was fantastic! We waited for 20 minutes for our table, but you can call ahead for reservations. We sat upstairs and caught the sun setting on the ocean, what a beautiful sight! Our waitress was bubbly, and super attentive without being overly so! The shakes are amazing, and plentiful! You have to try one of the many flavors! The burgers were amazing, try the Hickory burger!!!! Several flavors of all you can eat fries, the garlic Parmesan was incredible! <br/>You can't miss this place if your in the area!

I was visiting San Diego for my office work, where I choose to spend my weekend over oceanside pier. I took a coaster and the tickets can be easily booked over net along with a proper timetable. I went on morning with the plan to spend the whole day there. In coaster the last stop is Oceanside, so there is no chance of missing your station. <br/><br/>After getting down, i took a stroll through the entire beach, enjoying the sunny day and then stepped towards the Ruby's Diner. You need to take the pavement to walk through the sea and reach the diner. Look back and you can see the entire beach and water, as if you are gliding into the sea. A picturesque view. And then take a corner of the 1st storey and enjoy the food with the sea view. Food is ok but the servers will take your glance sometimes. <br/><br/>An absolute brilliant concept and worth visiting for a day spend.

Not a Good Choice For a Gluten Free Meal. My family has been vacationing in this area for 15+ years and Ruby's on the pier is one of our favorite traditions. I was excited to see that they added a gluten free burger and sandwich to their menu, but disappointed when the waiter brought me a plate with a gluten free burger and a side salad covered in croutons. I don't think this is the place to go if you are sensitive to gluten, it is so busy the kitchen staff doesn't have time to worry about a gluten free order. We sat in a table near the kitchen and watched as the cooks were throwing out the food as quickly as possible. I asked for another salad but got sick from the burger anyway. My suggestion is to walk the pier but find another restaurant.

Out of Towners visited here. They need speakers around the back so you can hear when you're called. Food took forever bit we were seated upstairs and at the very back so got full view of ocean. Food was good and not overpriced! Not the best I've ever had but still really good. Validate parking as well. Be sure to stop here!

Oceanside is home to one of the longest wooden piers in the western US. Perched at the end of the pier is Ruby’s Diner, which is open every day and offers great American drive-in food, but without the cars!

Great Find in Oceanside!. We ate there during lunch service today, and it was great! We had stunning views of the ocean and the atmosphere was super busy- but very inviting and the staff were moving tables in and out quickly. The hickory burger and Rubys original burger were filling and you cannot beat bottomless fries! Will def be back...and the walking to and from really helps with not feeling overly guilty from eating your whole plate.<br/>Clean, nice service, and a fun family and/ or date spot : )

Great food, great view, slow service is to be expected!. It may take a while to get a table and the service was decent, but not great (they were really busy though), but the food was awesome! I had the Cobb burger, it had bacon, bleu cheese, avacado slices and more on it; this burger was good, I would suggest trying it. My wife had the Cobb salad and it was also very good. The garlic fries were good to me, but there was a ridiculous amount of garlic, you have to LOVE garlic to enjoy these fries. The view was also great, on a pier, right on the ocean. It is a long walk to the place, down this pier, but that is a good excuse to get less healthy options (because you will burn some of it off on the walk lol). Overall, I say try it if you are in Oceanside!
