Subway

Even for Mon Valley standards (a area that is economically depressed and losing population) this restaurant was a let down. Lets see. The franchiser decided to put up a bunch of passive aggressive signs warning people that the owner can not even afford to take a loss on a $50 dollar bill then tells potential bathroom users not to 'disrespect the owners' meanwhile the owner can't even afford to power the drink cooler (see photo) or fix their soda machine (see photos) which is disrespecting the few paying customers that walk into this store. The sauce lids were put the wrong side up allowing bacterial and viruses to land on the food-facing lid side. Overall I was severely underwhelmed eating at this Subway restaurant. I have eaten at ones in Detroit and Harlem that were in much better shape and didn't have half the machines that we can see broken. Who knows what else is broken in the store (probably the coolers). This place is most likely full of health code violations but given it's one of the few remaining non-bankrupt businesses in Monessen it may be able to last a few more years until the population of Monessen drops under 5,000. I witnessed many other things wrong with this restaurant that I was unable to document visually with my cell phone. A very depressing place ran by a poor or absentee Subway franchisee.
