Central Perks

This is a great little coffee shop in downtown Marshall. If I could give it a 4.5 I would as it was almost a five. Our food was very good. If you're into ambiance this place has it, it's a coffee shop alongside a vintage / antique store in a turn of the century department store building. I had the Cubano sandwich, which was quite good if a bit different from a traditional Cuban sandwich. At first I was disappointed the bread was not pressed like a traditional Cuban sandwich, nor was it the more typical French bread. But the wheat bun was very good and tasted homemade. So I'll say it was an excellent Cuban influence sandwich! Service was great. And if I'd been in a coffee mood I'm guessing their coffee would have been good as well as it had all the makings of a good coffee shop. Instead I had iced tea, which was fine. So why not a five? Both my wife and I felt it was a 4.5. for me I guess it was it felt just a little bit too trendy, was trying to hard. I would have been happier if it was a diner vibe, but that wouldn't necessarily work with the antique store. For my wife it was that the food was just a little bit expensive for what you got. It's still a great place and if you're looking for a sandwich or a cup of coffee I'd give it a try.

Food and service are great. Exotic sweet tea is absolutely delicious. But what really sets this restaurant apart from others in town is their sensitivity to dietary needs and preferences. When ordering a black bean burger they asked if I wanted regular mayo or vegan mayo. When ordering a meat entree, they asked if all toppings were ok. Different options for buns and sides. Vegan and gluten free cookies. Always nice to see, especially in a town where it’s extremely rare!

Central Perks is a quaint restaurant in the downtown area of Marshall. I was here from out of town for work and this place was recommended. I had the spicy chicken with pasta salad. It took a little longer to come out than what I had planned for a lunch break, but the staff was very friendly and the food was good. The portions were big and overall I would try it again.

We discovered this lovely establishment a quite a few years back when we stared going to the Marshall Christmas Parade annually. I have to give it 5 Stars for how well the staff stays poised during this very busy night in Marshall. They will get your order out, fresh and so good, despite the crowds. We always stand right near this store to enjoy the parade and visit neighboring establishments as well. This is our favorite because I can find a fabulous pair of vintage earrings and order giant yummy sandwiches to enjoy there or on the road or back in our travel accommodations. I LOVED the Club Sandwich I ordered parade night this year. So delicious and rustic if you will, not a weird wet franchise sandwich. The Chocolate Cake was soft, fragrant and I loved every morsel of it. So fun to wonder around this eatery & store - please don't change!
