It was about 10am on Sunday and there was a line out the door, but it was worth it. Not a huge scone fan, but the pumpkin chocolate chip was very good. Something for everyone, but maintains a home cooked meal feel. Sunny side eggs were cooked perfectly. I will recommend and go back.

Waking up early for a morning run around Madison it was after nearly ten miles followed by a quick shower that I made my way to kitschy and cozy Lazy Jane’s Café and although I unfortunately forgot to return to the second-hand store next door before departing town my sixty minute stay at the restaurant itself was definitely a delight, the charming décor only bested by fresh baked goods and service with a smile. Perhaps a bit “off the beaten path” and almost entirely populated by locals with counter service and self seating both upstairs and down it was to a wide variety of sandwiches, eggs, and entrees that I was tempted on arrival but focusing largely on pastry my six-part order was crafted, the first five items from the cooling racks while a daily special of blueberry studded flapjacks was readied on the griddle. Obviously pro

Omg REAL WHIPPING CREAM. Whenever I go here, I get a waffle with fruit and whipped cream. It's REAL fruit and REAL whipped cream. Like, the kind you mix with a mixer. It's so freaking good. I also recommend picking up a morning bun or 8 and some scones for the next day (or that afternoon). The servers are great and the atmosphere is like being at your mom's house. Go upstairs and stake out a couch. I love this place.

Perfect! The food, atmosphere, staff...it was all perfect. I will not be looking any farther for breakfast when in Madison. And they even have gluten free breads and scones!

The only scones I eat are Lazy Jane's.. Scones are typically not my favorite because I usually find them too dry. I'd rather have a donut or bagel over a scone almost any day of the week...UNLESS those scones come from Lazy Jane's. Lemon cream has my heart.

Official Scone of my world. I love the scones, I love everyone I have ever tried. Anyone who has a hankering for scones, I take them to Lazy Jane's. But I always order something because the food is awesome and I love the way the cooks sing/bellow my name. That's my favorite part of the meal. My favorite breakfast is the eggs with scallions and cream cheese. Sounds easy enough, but mine never taste like theirs. I love the decor, I love the vibe, if I ever decided to work at a restaurant (and I consider that often!), I would apply to work here. Everyone is kind, never stressed, and happy. All this and coffee/tea too!

A place for everyone. Nothing embodies the Willy St mantra better than Lazy Jane's. It truly is a place for anyone. The staff is amazing, the cooks are swift and skilled, and the atmosphere is eclectic, stimulating and cozy all at the same time.

I like to give the cooks a fake name to shout out when my food is ready. Try it! (Topical references and cartoon/sit-com characters are some of my favorites... also celebrity hybrid names like Brajolina or Bennifer)

And yes, you must get a scone.

I would move to Madison just to eat here.. I was spending a night in Madison on my way back to Chicago and put out a call on Twitter for suggestions of places to eat breakfast while I was there. When all four of the people I specifically asked suggested Lazy Jane's, I knew that was the place to go. I was absolutely won over by every aspect of this place.

The cafe itself was totally adorable, and the staff was super friendly. I loved the mismatched plates and silverware. The whole place had a very cozy, eclectic feel to it. And nothing makes you feel more welcome in a new restaurant then when they give you free food!

The food was delicious. I played it safe with the eggs, potatoes, and toast, but in retrospect, I wish I'd been a bit more adventurous. The breakfast potatoes were fabulous - and I'm VERY picky about my breakfast potatoes - and the scones were absolutely out of this world! We actually stopped at the bakery next door to pick up a couple to take back to Chicago with us.

I hear this place gets pretty crowded on the weekends, and I can understand why. However, it was only about half full, and there was no line, when we arrived about 9:30 Sunday morning. I chalked this up to fate, luck and the fact that the street is totally torn up.

I definitely understand why it was a unanimous suggestion among my friends, and I will certainly be returning next time I'm in the Madison area.

Kitchen Kitsch is Neato Keeno!. It's true you may have to wait a bit if you head to Lazy Jane's for breakfast at peak times, but the fantastic decor- something like a tasteful hippy's garage sale collage- keeps you comfortably entertained. I highly recommend the tomato bisque soup!

I ordered the Mediterranean plate which was a gigantic platter of hummus, tabouli, and Greek salad with feta, olives and pita bread. It was delicious!

Go on off hours. The food is always good here, but I only go on off hours as I don't want to wait a half an hour for breakfast. I prefer wait service to self service so I don't frequent this establishment. A good place if you want to read the paper, don't care about waiting for your food, don't mind the staff calling you to the service area, and don't mind waiting on yourself. Good food and bakery!

Jane Jane... Lazy but busy Jane. This is a quirky, fun, funky little neighborhood place. Great for breakfast, good fresh food BUT beware you will wait for it. Get there early to get a seat and your food under 20 mins- yep you just read that. If ut was not for the chram and good food this would get a thumbs down. There is no table service and bring cash, thankfully they have an ATM in the premises. Jane I want to be lazy when I come there to have a breakfast or brunch feasting on your great food and yummy bakery, but I felt like I worked hard for it. Oh ya going down 4 times to see if our food was ready and if that was our name being called. Love the chef belting out the named, but neither one of us could tell what he called out "jeanhhouaaarrrrrr!!" What? So it was worth trying it out, but not sure how often I will subject myself to the long wait.

What's Up with the Wait Time?. I'd love to try this place but every time we get to the location there is a wait about a half hour long and a line that extends out the door. As much as I love food, and good food at that, I'm not waiting, I'm heading down the street to another locale....

Local opinions of Lazy Jane's seem to fall into two camps[11]: those that love it to death, and those that find it utterly overhyped. While we won't necessarily fall into the latter, the former are, we think, too[3] quick to judge[14]. Lazy Jane's fills a
