Came here last night and did trust the chef, which was excellent! They were really accommodating of my food allergy and recommended a delicious fermented drink, full of natural healing properties. My favourite dish was a steak tartare in a crunchy nori shell, unlike anything I’ve eaten before! Feels more like having dinner with a close relative, who happens to be an excellent chef, than going to a restaurant. You must visit!

Totally trust the chef at this place! The meal was amazing and the atmosphere was great! There were just 2 people running the place and the restaurant was packed, however they were still on top of everything without delay. Kudos for that!

My husband and I visited on our honeymoon road trip - so glad we did, it was an incredible intimate dining experience.
We love food and adore when restaurants have a “trust the chef” option. This is a great option here as the food was divine.
Chef Logan went above and beyond! Our main was a 30hr braised lamb shank with the most delicious truffle mushroom mousse ever made. To say we were impressed was an understatement, I’m just sad that we don’t live in NZ and can visit again soon.
The atmosphere and interior design is both beautiful and comfortable, and the staff were impeccable with their service and attention to detail.
I would recommend Thyme Square as a must do for anyone visiting Hamilton. Thank you for taking such good care of us!

Perfect place for our Wedding Anniversary dinner. Wonderful food great friendly service (even though full house). Would recommend.
Prices may seem a bit high but the taste explosions in the mouth are a-mazing!

Nailed it, no notes. The balance of flavours was impeccable, every bite can be different yet perfect. It’s not exotic or overly artistic, just extremely refined (dare I say) normal food that is definitely worth a visit for anyone living within an hour of Hamilton. I was even more surprised that there were only two people running the entire operation on a Friday evening… hats off to the chef and the waitress.

What an exquisite place! Thank you for our beautifully presented meals. 10 out of 10 for the Lamb Shank. The side plates of potatoes and broccoli were delicious. And the deep fried ice cream in filo pastry was a great way to end the meal!

Recommended as the best restaurant in Hamilton. After our wonderful experience on Saturday night, we’d agree! A haven from the hustle. Personal, friendly and subtle service. A dedicated chef who treats his guests and workmates kindly - whilst creating dishes that look and taste incredible. Cosy and intimate warm ambience. We are thrilled to have found you. Had the chefs choice 5 course meal. We loved every course, the food was outstanding. If you are a foodie I recommend to go there. Some wait between courses but it added to the atmosphere to have a decent experience and night out as meal. Don’t forget to take your own bottle of wine.

Celebrated our One Year Wedding Anniversary & Birthday last night with friends.
The atmosphere at this establishment was very cosy & romantic.
The music set the tone for a very relaxing vibrant night.
The service was very friendly & professional.
The chef came out to greet us & advise us of the dishes he prepared.
The food was top notch.
We all had a great time dining here & our taste buds & bellies were so happy...
I highly reccommend this place for an awesome experience.
