Denny's

Located inside the historic Hotel Nevada and still in the same location the previous diner was in. Good prompt service as always. Menu is now all Dennys and not the Hotel Nevada theme as it was before. I ordered the spicy Carolina chicken sandwich, cooked well, my only small complaint is the sliced tomato was placed first on the toasted bread which turned it soggy. Tomato placed on top of the chicken pattie would have lessen the soggy bread effect. Overall very tasty and spicy. Side of onion rings were oily and mushy, but ok. I got a refill on my cola and although I didn't check I suspect that there was a refill charge. My bill was $18 and change. A bit high, but the location in Ely isn't too close to a large supply city so price is understandable. I will admit I liked it better as the Hotel Nevada restaurant, but it was ok. Things and places change.

Ordered online for pickup. We ordered two Philly cheesteak omelets and paid extra to upgrade for pumpkin pecan pancakes. When our order came out we were told they did not have the pancakes so they gave us regular and they were out of hash browns so gave us French fries instead (seriously!! French fries for breakfast??). I asked for a refund of the extra we paid for the upgrade and was told they could not refund online orders as that money does not come to them (This made zero sense). She also said she couldn't cancel the order as it was already paid for. As if that wasn't all bad enough the meal was terrible. The "steak" in the omelets tasted like it had sat in a refrigerator for several days and then warmed up. They were large chunky inedible pieces. Instead of the peppers that were suppose to be in it I found several pieces of what appeared to be some kind of squash. Even the substituted fries were hard and cold. I have been attempting to contact the site that does the online orders by phone and email with zero success. I don't recommend eating here but if you must DO NOT order online!

Not often do I leave bad reviews, but this was by far the worst meal I've received at any Dennys. Was informed of what was available at 10pm. Which we were fine with. However food brought out was burnt or not good. Ordered country fried steak & eggs. The country fried steak was covered in milk instead of gravy. Ordered side of bacon, and was brought out burnt looking unappetizing. Wouldn't recommend dining here at all.

We got the free hotel breakfast from staying at the Hotel Nevada. 2 eggs, 2 tiny slices of bacon, pancakes and coffee. They were running out of pancake mix so we got french toast instead. Added hash browns. Everything tasted fine, but geez, was the waitress uninterested. Maybe she was just having a bad day. Finally came around to offer more coffee after we were obviously completely done with our meal and ready to go. Lame.

With just three customers in the restaurant it took over 10 minutes to seat me and another 10 minutes to take my order. The french fries were over cooking very crunchy and the cheeseburger came out pretty good. After the waiter brought my food he never once returned to my table not even to ask for more drink or to bring my check I sat after eating my meal for 1 hour with no drink and waiting for the check before I got up with the frustration I went to the counter and ask for my own check. When the waiter asked me how was everything I expressed my feelings to him I told him that was not happy with the service that you provided at all he then says to me, he was busy. The only thing he was doing was socializing with the other three customers in the whole store. The prices of food is grossly overpriced compared to Denny's around the country.

We drove 1 hour to enjoy breakfast in Ely. The meal was as a good as it is in an average Denny's. Nothing good to tell, but not bad at all. (There are good and very good Denny's - but not this one.) The service was halfhearted. We had to wait a very long time to pay, not only we - at the end there were 5 customers in a row who waited to pay. No excuse, no statement, maybe it is common. A customer is just a customer.

The one server working had little personality and only came to our table 2 or 3 times. No refills. No checkback and there was only two tables at that time counting us. The food was okay which is why it's not a 1 star. I would not go back to this location. I hope it was just an off day for the server that was working.
