The experience was very good. Amazing service, ambience, and presentation.
However, the food itself was a little bit below expectations personally. It was good don't get me wrong, but the expectations surrounding an establishment like this are pretty enormous.
It just felt like I'd had comparative or higher quality duck and dessert elsewhere at much lower cost. Lobster roll and bread starters were on point though.

DO NOT GO FOR BREAKFAST! Went here for breakfast today - while the service was great the food was probably the worst breakfast I’d ever had (outside of the fruit).
I was told i could build my own omelette and asked for spinach, tomatoes, and cheese. The chef decided it was a good idea to put what appeared to be cooked spinach that would be served for dinner in the omelet versus fresh spinach + and tomatoes that were really soggy and not fresh. The egg whites looked like they were out of a carton.
The other guest ordered an açaí bowl and it was also the worst that we have ever seen. It came out melted in what looked and taste like a pool of flavored milk.

The one start is for the server. He was amazing and very cheerful. He also managed to find ingredients to make me a vanilla latte. I don’t think they have an espresso machine because it tasted like coffee but decent enough.
Long story short. Don’t choose this place for breakfast. The server said the chef was hired from Waffle House but even Waffle House has better breakfast. Save your money and go there! Or other places that know not to put cooked spinach in an fake egg white omelette.

Outstanding presentation and service. Food is artfully presented on plates that are themselves handmade works of fine art. We got the wine pairing and enjoyed it greatly. Highly recommended if you have 3+ hours to wine and dine. With a few small modifications, my meal was vegan

Classic, elegant, inspired, and timeless is how I can best describe Herons. They have a limited menu so the dishes they make will be perfect, each and every time. The surprise small bits are also a joy before your meal.

Those deviled eggs were amazing. The fries we're good and the steak was very nice. This is a very romantic place. I enjoyed the server. The server is a definite salesmen and up seller. We almost ordered the whole menu. The deviled eggs were probably the best deviled eggs I've had. The steak was nice we could then have had so much flavor. The cocktail was very nice and refreshing. If you want to have a romantic brunch, lunch or dinner oh, this is the place for you. It is also nice for families and any sort of Celebration. You would definitely enjoy this place!

The Umstead boasted an elevated high tea with harpist and exceptional pastries. That was not our experience. They have only 3 tables dedicated to high tea and the harpist sits off to the side and takes lots of breaks. The sandwiches seemed pre-made on stale bread and the desserts were winter inspired when it was the height of spring (late May). Where were the local strawberries? Coffee flavored macarons with tea? Better off waiting for dinner...

My friend took me here for a birthday lunch and it was wonderful. The portions are light but the quality is incredible and the dishes are unique. I highly recommend!

Delicious! We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast: pineapple turmeric drink, fruit plate, yogurt parfait, banana pancakes, and the seasonal omelet. We come here for anniversary celebrations and they don't disappoint. Excellent service.
