Bistro 1699

Played here for the first time last week. Was paired with members and they were super friendly to allow me to play with them. I played the Blackheath and although it was very wet (the two other courses from what I hear stay dry); at any rate, it is a pristine layout that plays a lot longer than the scorecard suggests. PGA tour quality sand in the bunkers providing a foundation for good bunker shots. Greens were good and there is some very cool holes with elevation changes. Just hope someday in the future golf courses will start taking the foam noodles out the pin locations because on hole 18 my second went straight into the hole from 160 out and bounced off the foam. But it's understandable why the foam is in the cups.

We played the day after a rainy evening. Wet couldn't start to describe the conditions. The course was completely soggy and muddy. Bunkers are not just wet but filled with water. Need drains and sand. The layout nice and challenging. Don't play after rain or on a rainy day. Spent 20 minutes cleaning clubs, shoes, legs. Not impressed.

This now a review of golf course and Murdochs. Murdochs. Service was painfullly slow. Waiting 40 minutes for a my burger. Does not look like they have enough staff. Food was okay. Nothing great. It took 45 to get the burger. Tip is included. Took 10 minutes to get the bill. Then they gave free dessert. That would have been a nice touch, it it too took a long time to come. I would avoid restaurant. There are plenty of other restaurants. This review is lengthy, as I typing it waiting for the desert. Wow...they are really slow. If you have read this far, then you know to avoid the place. The golf course review. As for golf club, it looks beautifully maintained. I would guess there is no issue getting a tee time, since I saw only a handful of golfers.
