My partner and I were at the Book Barn in Niantic and wanted some fish and chips before we headed back to New Haven. Edd's Place had one of the higher ratings on here and looked to have some waterfront seating which we thought would be nice for this beautiful summers day. We got what we were looking for and more!
When we pulled up, I was already excited as it looked like the exact type of hole-in-the-wall place you learn to look for growing up in the south.
Walking in, we were greeted to a simple food counter and a drink fridge behind, all the seating is outside which is no complaint of ours.
The menu isn't overly large or complicated, both big positives for me. I had the 1/3 lb. burger and my partner, the fish and chips.
For the burger, it was one of the most delicious ones I've ever had. The seasoning was perfectly varied, but not overpowering. The toppings weren't skimped on, and the bun held together even with how juicy the patty was.
For the fish and chips, it was a rare sight for me in how quickly she cleaned that plate so I'll let that speak for the taste.
Overall, we came for good food and good views, and Edd's delivered on both fronts! Stop in the next time you're in Westbrook!

Amazing service and great food! Everything taste super fresh and homemade. Loved the outdoor areas, but there are a lot of bees. So beware if you’re allergic!

What a hidden gem! This is certainly a no-frills place, but we really enjoyed it. We went at sunset and enjoyed the beautiful view on the river. The food was all delicious and we found everyone there to be so personable. I liked how the shrimp and grits came out in a unique bowl and the cup of lobster bisque on a different place - it gave a nice homey vibe. Though it was counter service, they were kind enough to bring everything to our table on the patio. It’s nice that they have a glass, heated indoor gazebo as well for chilly or rainy weather. It was much less crowded here too which I preferred to other places in the area.

Ed's place is rustic and charming. It's located along side a river inlet that is fed by the LI Sound. The found was very tasty but slightly over priced. I had a tuna melt and sweet potato fries.

The tapas are always very, very flavorful and the perfect portion. The service is attentive and friendly. The wine list is interesting and priced very reasonably for the quality!

My favorite spot for fish tacos. Kind people and a great view to enjoy it all from in the gazebo( which is heated year round) . Everything from baked goods to pulled pork sandwiches to homemade soup. It's all GOOD!

Ed's is a wonderful place to sit outside at one of their many picnic tables or inside their enclosed gazebo for some delicious food along with a beautiful view of the salt marshes. We only had hot dogs with fries( very yummy),but Ed's menu has so very many choices including lobster rolls.
The staff at Ed's are incredibly personable and very accommodating and I know I will be back over and over again.

It's one of our go to breakfast spots all year round with picnic table seating next to the water and the food is always great along with the service.
