Good but a bit pricey. The dim sum is very passable here, if a bit pricey. I think Tao Tao in the Sunrise area is better, but this place will do if you need a dim sum fix.

As close to Real as it gets in West Palm. As someone who is married to a native Chinese girl from Hong Kong and who has spent significant time in China, I have to echo Ming's comments. The bad reviewers here are people who wanted AmeriChinese food and who have never experienced real Chinese. Notice the the reviews from people below with Chinese names. I don't care if the reviewer is from "New York" or not, there is plenty of horrid Chinese in NY or SF (there is good Chinese there too but if you don't like Grand Lake you would not like the real Chinese in NY or SF either) Look at the reviews by Edward Cohen or FoodLover247 for examples of people looking for AmeriChinese.

If you want McDonalds do not eat here. If you want instant US style hurry up and eat and get out (molly) then do not come here. This is NOT Gweilo food. This is authentic. This gives one a peek into why the greatest living chef considers Chinese to be on a par with French (and only puts Moroccan cuisine into that category).

The service is adequate and representative of the price. The food is real.

If you want a real treat, order the Shau Chow Wang. It may not be on the menu but they will serve it.

Again, if you are a big China buffet fan you will not like this place. If you are looking for Chicken and Broccoli go some where else. If you want an idea of how Yum Cha in Hong Kong is, this is the place in West Palm.

On the Kirk scale of
1,2,3 being sustenance only and
4,5,6,7 being lower to upper "industrial" food and
8,9,10 being " artisanal" highest quality;

Grand Lake gets an 8.1.

Authentic Hong Kong style cuisine. After reading many of the negative reviews, I understand why the reviewers wrote what they did. If you're looking for chop suey and chicken chow mein, then this is not your place. I'm sure they will prepare it for you if you request it, but if you are not open to trying authentic chinese food, you'll be very disappointed. This is a true hong kong style cuisine and I know because that's where I'm from. My friends from New York took me here promising real chinese food and I was very skeptical. However, my attitude changed when i saw the daily specials written in chinese on a board as we enter the restaurant (like you would see in many casual restaurants in HK. The dim sum are ordered on demand and came fresh and hot. Was told that there are better selections if i come on the weekend. Lots of fresh chinese greens selections and not just the usual brocoli, red peppers, and celery. The roast duck was delicious...and for those unfamiliar, they are meant to be served at room temperature. same with soy sauce chicken and roast pork. The fresh shrimp wonton taste just like home. We came back for dinner twice and had dim sum on the weekend. Enjoyed the food very much. For those who complains of poor service...remember you get better service when you smile.

Authentic Chinese. This is authentic Chinese food. This is not bastardize Chinese.The American palate may not agree with some dishes. Furthermore, you may not get the most attentive service but, you will enjoy truly authentic dishes. If service is important, go else where or get take out. GREAT food!

Worst Choice of dinning I ever had. On jan. 14, 2012 we were a party of 4, I ordered the 1/2 duck, when it came out I tasted the first piece and it was bad, I spoke to the lady who said she was the manager, and told her about it, at first she said I ordered it I should eat it, again I said it was bad and to take it back. she finaly came to my table and took the duck back to the kitchen, I ordered something else which was ok, when the bill came the 1/2 duck was still on the bill, I said you took it back I only had one piece and did not finish it because it was bad, her reply to me was I order it I have to pay for it. I payed the bill but will never go back there.

Worst service! Dirty!. Service was slow. Servers were very rude! Waited about 15 minutes to even place an order, another 10 minutes to get our drinks, and that was after me following up. Server slammed the tea pot and cups on the table because he was mad! Geezuz, how can this place survive with a service like that?

Frozen reheated dm sum. Food Not even close to the excellence it had when it first opened. Service unfriendly, uncaring and tries to do as little as possible. Hangs on by arcing early bird fried foods loaded with sugar and salt to the Century Village folk.

Just happy to find Dim Sum. It's good cheap eats. Sticky rice, turnip cake and (hate to say it) steamed pork bun are excellent.

Dim Sum Disappointment. It was my birthday and I wanted to have Dim Sum. When looking at what was close we ended up to going to West Palm Beach to a place called Grand Lake Chinese Cuisine. We arrived at 12:30. They are a smaller restaurant so you are given a list to fill out like you sometimes do for Sushi. We made our choices that looked very promising. Each selection from sui mai to fun gor was either overcooked and rubbery or when you bit into something it spewed out the oil like it was drenched in it. I think I will wait to go back to Tampa for TC Choys for my next Dim Sum hankering. If anyone knows of a Dim Sum on the east coast of Florida, please post.
