Chen's Kitchen

Popped in for a bit of mid week Yum Cha. There’s no trolley service, you select off the menu below and your dishes are cooked to order. I really enjoyed the Wor Tip and Shanghai Dumplings but didn’t love the squid. My son enjoyed the Pork Buns but the prawn dumplings had something else in them which my son had to pick out. I suspect they gave us Prawn with ginger by mistake. There were a few other tables occupied and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff were efficient and our order was taken quickly. I believe there is free parking behind the restaurant but there is also paid street parking out front.

Came during lunch time a day before NY. It was quite, just 2 tables including our table. We ordered beef brisket noodle, beef brisket rice and prawns with chives dumpling (3 pieces). All of those were nice taste and generous portions. Well at least I didn't feel so thirsty after finished eating. However, it's just long after that, I got urge to go to toilet. So not sure, whether something wrong with food or not. The orders served less than 10 minutes. Car park is at the back and you can access the back entrance. The restaurant is quite old.

Living in the area, we have been ordering from Chen's Kitchen for years. It has been a staple go-to for Friday night take-away. Unfortunately, we have ordered from them twice in the last month and I'm sorry to report that the food quality has been nowhere near what we are used to from here. There has either been a change in kitchen staff and/or management as the menu has not changed, but the food quality (and therefore taste) has suffered a dramatic downturn. It's a sad moment for us as we have lost a family favourite but we won't be ordering from Chen's for the foreseeable future and will have to find an alternative. **UPDATE July 2022 - Very pleased to report that the food and service at Chen’s has returned and I have no issue in recommending them again**
