The Talk

The TALK Restaurant is one of the most desirable places to go for fresh, delicious foods, with an awesome ambiance. Whether your seated in the martini bar area; the dining room or vault areas, the atmosphere is quaint but also electric. And the staff is just plain awesome!!! I highly recommend The TALK if your looking for all the above.

Came here with some friends on a Friday night. The place wasn’t entirely full but the staff seemed super busy. The food was good we just had appetizers though. Cocktails were ok dessert was awful. Place is mediocre. The service was awful! Our waters arrived after our meals. Our silverware arrived after our food. We had to ask for them. Our bread arrived after our food. Everyone in our group had to keep getting up to ask for things we needed constantly. I had to walk over across the room to ask another waitress what they had for dessert because our waitress was no where to be found or by the bar someplace taking shots. Honestly it was more tiring being there then it was relaxing. We could see our waitress taking shots at the bar instead of doing her job. What left me flabbergasted is how the owner of this place came running after me with the waitress to tell me we left an insulting tip when the guys in our group took care of the bill. I had no idea what was left but in honesty the tip reflects the service and over all experience. Their service was insulting. If someone is unhappy they have the right to leave what they feel is appropriate. What wasn’t appropriate is the owner yelling at me on the street with the waitress. You have time to leave your “busy” restaurant and customers to ask about your tip and you didn’t have time to bring us water? Or forks to eat the food you brought us? Or our drinks that we had to wait for 30min? This place is definitely not worth it unless you walk in and they literally have a table or 2 because they can’t handle anything more.

Went with my partner for the first time on a Friday evening and overall it was just OK. We probably won’t go back even though we live within walking distance because it just didn’t seem worth the prices. When going to a new restaurant, my partner always asks what dishes are really popular or what they are known for. At a somewhat upscale restaurant like The Talk (white tablecloths, cloth napkins, real candles etc) the wait staff should be able to provide an answer. What we got was “well there’s a new chef; the old chef did great parmesans; the seafood is fresh.” That came across as “the jury is still out on this chef”. The waitress didn’t tell us there were specials until we were ready to order. No one refilled our water the whole time. My partner had the broiled scrod which he said was very good. I had the Chicken D’Andrea which was OK - the breaded chicken was overcooked and tough. On a positive note, the bread and dipping oil were good. We had made reservations although didn’t need them - the place was not busy at all.

Very friendly and good service, despite having gone on a training night. Great wine selections, and the waitress was knowledgable and helped me pick out a great red. My NY strip streak was a gorgeous warm red, but had very little seasoning on it. The potatoes were a good texture, but seemed bland as well. I almost never put pepper or salt on my dinner, but needed to for these. The broccolini was cooked to a wilt, but would have been better served crisp. I am torn on rating this place 3 or 4 stars... service was great, but the food was alright. I ate here 2 years ago and found the prime rib wonderful; not sure if it's time or the type of entree ordered that affected my impression this time around. Ultimately, it's a nice atmosphere with good service, but food didn't live up to the expectation, especially for the price. I would probably give it another shot after a decent amount of time.

I went here Saturday night with about 12-15 ppl, I must admit I should have ordered all appetizers (specially the crab cakes they were good) b/c my portion of food was small for the price, I eat out often so I am well aware of portion sizes. The waitress was pleasant all though I was one of the later parties to arrive, the food turn around was decent considering how many was in the party I was in. If I ever do go back I will def ask for the steak tips (my main entree I ordered) probably medium b/c I said medium well and it was well done with no flavor. Overall pleasant experience nothing majorly bad.
