I love it when an old structure or building is repurposed and gets a new life. Iron Works used to be an industrial foundry but is now serving some of the best eats in the Ocean State.
Great twists on classic bar food and some truly unique new dishes. The Cauliflower and Lentil Fritters are amazing. The One Pound Pastrami is a heavy, juicy, flavor-packed sandwich you can share but it's so good you won't. Shaved Steak was delightful. Fries were a great sidekick to the sandwiches.
Great selection of cocktails, draft and bottled beers.
Extensive desert menu if you have any room.
Offering gluten free breads and deserts as well. Very friendly staff, great decor. Definitely will become a favorite.

I first want to say that I am a big fan of the Newport restaurant group and am a frequent costumer. I also never really comment or critique establishments. However, today’s experience definitely requires some constructive criticism.
I have been to Iron Works a few times before for events on the second floor and had wanted to try the main restaurant.
First and foremost, the bartender was one of the rudest I have encountered In quite some time. She was simply angry and frustrated and it showed. I definitely felt like I was a burden yet I was one of only four or five people sitting at the bar. I could not eat the Cesar salad, as it was drowning in what tasted like a butter / mayonnaise type of dressing (nothing remotely close to Cesar ). When she asked me if it was all right I said it wasn’t great and left it there. She left it there as well.
The Sausage and Rigatoni dinner had no sausage. When asked she said it was in the sauce but I did not taste any type of sausage, just lots of pink sauce with overdone pasta.
Asking for some Bread was not well received. Said it “would have to be put in the oven” did I want to wait?? I did and got two sweet cinnamon like buns 10 minutes later. Odd!!
On a professional note, no one was dressed appropriately, casual shirts and worn out jeans. Hands in face, hair and food! Asking for water was was simply not an option. Asked but not received.
The Floor was dirty and unwashed glasses everywhere. It was not busy, yet bartender was chatting with staff and banging glasses/ dishes , etc. The bar eating surface was dirty the whole time I was here. Never did she ever clean or wipe anything down.
I think Iron Works is more of a bar and grill type Establishment not entree dining. Most of the people there were ordering sandwiches. I should have stuck with a burger!

I love this place the food blew my mind. We got the pastrami sandwich and the short ribs, they were both insanely good. Love the whole grain mustard on the pastrami sandwich, one suggestion to make it even better is to serve a sauce with it. Great atmosphere and super cool waitresses

We enjoyed our meal went twice during our stay. We did not have any issues except on the second visit we ordered some dessert close to closing time and the waiter said the kitchen was closed. We had a 0830 reservation and we ordered the dessert. The manager caught wind of that and corrected the issue. Food was good took off one star based on service.

I live in NH, and went to RI to see some family members who came up from out of town. We needed to do takeout, and let me tell you by far the best service ever. The gentleman that greeted us was so delightful. Had a smile on his face with a great attitude. ☺ He went and got our food, and when he came back we asked if they happen to have any paper plates and the guy went and found a package these little plastic plates. Which was just the sweetest gesture. I'd definitely go back to this place service for our takeout was amazing.! And then let me tell you we got food for 4 of us and then some due to others staying in a hotel. And the food was phenomenal.!! There to go containers we by far the best I've ever seen before. So hands down all around this place has got my interests to go back.! Thank you to all who made the food and the gentleman who greeted us and got our food.!

Service from Nicole was Fantastic! The food was Great!! I had the Rigatoni pasta and the Bread Pudding. The bread pudding was outstanding!! I Never had it prepared this way before. I will be back next time I’m in town. Thank You 😊

Super friendly and welcoming staff, food is fesh and excellent! Unique items on the menu but not so unique you're afraid to try it lol Server's knowledge of the menu is great! A family favorite!!!

Delish! A wonderful cocktail i had a Palomz, and beer menu. Great entrees , I had the braised short ribs which were lucsious. My husband had the bacon-infused meatloaf and we shared a delicious flourless chocolate cake!
