Driftless Cafe

I enjoyed the Seared Bay Scallops small plates meal along with what you see in the photos with a good friend. The textures. The flavors. The ambiance. Excellent! With so much of their menu highlighting local producers and seasonal produce, I found it to be a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to my next visit!

One of the best meals of our lives. So fresh, light, flavorful on so many levels. Super friendly servers. Everything delightful. Each bite, we just about swooned. We drove out of our way, traveling from Minneapolis to Madison, to eat at The Driftless Cafe. Short of cooking from our own garden, it was the most locally-produced meal we've had.

Dinner at the Driftless was fantastic, super good! Our party of four all commented on how fresh the salad was. My pasta with lamb meatballs in a tomato sauce was to die for. My husband got the steak and he said it was the best he had ever had and he is 78 years old and our friends loved their salmon. Very nice wine selection, drinks and the service was excellent. For what we got the prices were reasonable especially in today's market. Highly recommend and we will return. Finally, very nice ambiance.

Some of the best food i have ever had eating out! Environment and atmosphere. The building is classic and has style to match. With a great wide area of seating for small families to large. A stylized bar and variety of artwork makes this place very inviting and exciting. There is lots of parking close by and feels homely. Service. The service was impeccable and friendly from the get go. Very enthusiastic and attentive staff. Quick service. Food and drink. The best part was the food. WOW, i normally mention good or great food but daum you could tell most of this stuff was homemade or locally sourced. The soup was fresh and delicious, the grilled cheese was not only that but more adding peppers to pesto. The mac and cheese was huge and delicious, certainly for cheese lovers. A good selection of food and drinks from soda to wine and local beer. I will be back here again and would certainly recommend anyone come here! Perfect place!

If folks ask me for a recommendation, my #1 place I would choose to eat, The Driftless Cafe is there every time. They have challenged me many times to try things I would not normally like (I hate olives) and turn me into a timid believer willing to try it again. Like every restaurant, there have been things I haven't absolutely loved. However, that's more my palate than a reflection of the lovely chefs who left their heart and soul on every plate for me. If I could, I would leave this place my only 6 star review because I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Everyone who contributes to this place is special from Luke and Ruthie to Mary and her team of chefs to the front of house and dishwashers. I can say that having been out here a few times, it's one of the places that has changed my life and made me challenge the world around me through the food I eat and the cuisine I will try. Thank you all so much for your dedication to your craft.
