Baja Fresh

Food seems as good as any other Baja but the chips were a little stale. As noted by a few other reviewers, the place needs a good cleaning. The floors especially seemed pretty bad considering I came in not long after it opened. Otherwise the service was fine and the Baja burrito with steak was really good.

Don't go to this place if you're a vegetarian or vegan! They use the same spoon for all the ingredients and don't care at all about mixing them. Cross contamination from oils is almost inevitable at these places, but getting whole pieces of beef in your veggie burrito is an entirely different matter. On two occasions I've ordered a veggie burrito that contained large pieces in it, and the most recent time it also had sour cream on it when I said I wanted none. The manager seemed nice and quick to give a refund/new burrito, but compared to other Baja Fresh locations this is just not a good place to eat at as either vegan or vegetarian.

The first time I went here I thought-wow-expensive-but compared to other mostly (mediocre at best) Ventura Mexican joints-can I admit-it was great-for Ventura! So I told a friend. Big Mistake. Here's how I lost my reputation. We went back on Saturday and the place was a pig sty. Nobody was working and they got the orders wrong. We finally walked out feeling grossed out. It's all about the manager and he wasn't there on Saturday. Don't you want customers to come back?

Didn’t have rice to complete burritos or bowls, no problem, still want to give you guys a shot. It was my first time here and I could live without rice, but then I finally get my order after a delay and I take a bite, and it is nothing what I ordered. Something completely different and I can see there was a mix up as the register girl was arguing with the cooking ladies, the register girl was in the wrong and was talking back to the cooks. I’m just observing to see what they are going to do, and they finally start looking at me. The register girls then comes up to me and without giving me any options takes the burrito I had just bit and says, “I’m out of wack today sorry.” No offer to let me at least let me enjoy the burrito they are going to throw away. And now I waited another 10 minutes, starving. I eat it and I left, I’m not one to make an issue but they didn’t offer any kind of compensation or anything. Worst experience I’ve had, and for such an expensive burrito, $11, I found that to be a little messed up.

Food is adequate but awfully salty. I only wanted to take advantage of a buy one/get one free coupon since a $10 burrito is ridiculous, but they TAXED the "free" item which amounts to false advertising. I called the CA state board and they said it would only be fraudulent if they fail to give that $ to the state. I'll never know because I wasn't given a line-item receipt, just my debit total but I'll never eat there again either.
