We stayed at a hotel nearby and walked here for dinner. I got the Butter Chicken and my wife got Chicken Tikka Marsala. They were both very good. We were pleased with the reasonable prices as well. We would definitely eat here again on our next visit to Vancouver.

Shame on this restaurant for trying to profit off of advertisements making light of the current opioid crisis. The only bliss the food provides here must be blissful ignorance of the fact that thousands of people have died due to fentanyl poisoning. Including that in your signage is incredibly insensitive to those affected by their deaths. You wouldn't make a sign saying "No genocide, only ginger!" Now would you? CHANGE IT

Was extremely disappointed with this meal, especially after reading the reviews before ordering for delivery through "just eat". We had the chicken pakoras, garlic naan, lamb curry, chicken tikka masala and basmati rice. The worst was the naan bread - was gooey and disgusting, didn't even resemble naan. There was hardly any sauce with the tikka masala, and what was there was very runny. Lamb was a bit tough, not what I expect in a decent curry. I strongly do not recommend. Best Indian for me is Crave on Granville Street - best naan I have had in my life.

While I applaud them for offering vegan options, the portions were quite small (for both appetizer and main course). Of the three dishes we ordered, two were good while the channa dal was a bit bland.

We used our Entertainment coupon last week. The food was really good. The kids loved the butter chicken and the lamb tender and delicious. Serving portion was good and we had a great family dinner where everyone was full, and happy in the end. Friendly staff and nice ambience. Oh and the chai tea hit the spot.

My husband and I have been going to Nirvana for several years and for us this is the best Indian restaurant. Over the years there have been many upgrades to the decor. We are always promptly seated and offered drinks. The menu is varied and I always choose prawn dishes, whereas my husband prefers lamb, which we do not have at home.
The food is always prepared based on our choice of curry. I prefer very hot. Servings are always substantial and delicious. Waiters always confirm that we are happy with our meal and at the same time are unobtrusive.
The strengths of this restaurant are the quality of food, the service and the PRICE.
We have had friends from England visit Nirvana and they are connoisseurs of Indian food. They were most impressed.

This place is unreal. The chef here is absolutely legit. My husband and I just came here two years after being overseas in AUS. We knew the food was good, but came back and the food is so amazing. So much flavour, flair, and authenticity packed into the curries. My husband loves super spicy and asked for a spicy lamb madras and the chef accommodated, and created one of the tastiest and spiciest madrases he ever had. Very impressed and can't wait to come back.

Tasty chicken tikka masala. Very quick take-out: made in 15 minutes. Naan bread was a bit dry but still tasty. Polite service and clean restaurant. Would definitely order from here again.

Left: I think it was cauliflower in a butter chicken-ish sauce? The menu didn’t say, but I say it tasted good!

Middle: the Vegetable Pakora tasted like a deep-fried veggie tempura. How could you go wrong with that? The dish also came with Garlic & Cilantro Naan that I used to wipe up the rest of the butter chicken-isn sauce.

Right: Spicy! The Chicken Biryani was flavourfully addictive!

We dined pretty early so it was empty inside except for a couple of small tables. Interesting decor, including a painting of Buddha sort of out-of-place with the other Indian artwork. Anyway, very Indian feeling. Menu had reasonable prices and it would turn out the portions were very good. Some prices are slightly higher than on the online menu. Papadum (free after you have place your order) Like papadum everywhere - salty, slightly bitter. Gluten Free Chilla ($2.95, a type of Indian pancake) Chilla uses chickpea flour, so it is gluten free. Topped with assorted veggies. I found this dense and dry, probably due to the chickpea flour. My South Asian friend really liked it though.

$11 + tax + tip for dal and rice. There were three people, including myself, in the restaurant. I ordered Chana Dal and Vegetables to go. I got to my destination and opened it up to discover that it was just Dal and rice, which I paid $11 + tax + tip for. When I phoned, of course, there was nothing the server could do unless I could make the 1/2 hour trip back to the restaurant for my vegetables. Apparently next time I go in the server will make up for it, but this is the first time I've ever been there and I don't expect there will be a next time. I did have a lovely conversation with another patron while I waited for my food though.

As I type this, we have been waiting over 2h30 for our meal to be delivered. We have dined in Nirvana several time, and while slow the service had always been passable.

We will not be going back, let alone order again. And I will encourage any and all that will listen to find another place. Seriously, we are nearing 180 minutes for a butter chicken, a lamb stag and two naan. This is laughable.

Nice atmosphere, okay pricing, good food. Had the super spicy non-veggie dish but because it was good, i surprised myself and almost finished it. The pricing is on the expensive side because the sauce comes in a small dish (the rice is unlimited though).

The atmosphere is good and the service is quite nice as well. I would go back to try some veggie dishes.

Just Nope. If you like food that tastes like cardboard then this is the place to go....

I ordered in, then went to see the reviews... I should have cancelled my ordered after seeing the reviews here. The food is indeed extremely bland, the portions are tiny, and the price is way too high!

Seriously, how you mess up butter chicken and then call it your specialty?

Below average at best. I dropped by for a late afternoon lunch. The staff didn't say hello, so I decided to get something to go. A small curry-to-go costs $15 bucks, which I think is a bit overpriced. More importantly, the food was incredibly bland. I heard the staff heating up the curry in the microwave, so 15 minutes was a bit long. They put bread in the to-go bag despite me asking if the dish was wheat-free. You get the picture... don't waste your money or time on this place.

We ordered Palak Paneer and Vegetable Jalfrezi. The curries come with rice. We though the food was decent, but the curries did not have as much flavour as we liked. It was a pretty quiet weekday lunch. I think We were the only two people there for a while, then another table of people came in. Overall it was a nice relaxing lunch with my friend and I'm glad I get to try the restaurant out

Yummy Butter Chicken. I went to Nirvana recently with my friend Angie for a late lunch. It wasn't too busy in there and we were served by the owner Davinder. He was a very nice guy and very polite. We both shared the butter chicken with rice, some naan bread and chai tea. I thought it was very delicious and the price was very affordable. I will for sure go back when I'm in the area next.

Jared and I both love indian food. I’d have to say that NIRVANA on Main St. served up the best Indian meal I’ve had outside of Vij’s – ever. Major price different though – our indulgent lunch for two at Nirvana was only $30. Sadly for Jared, he wasn’t with me – but we’ll definitely be going back. I was dining there with travel writer Lori Henry collecting tips on how to rock the 365 Days of Dining job for Tourism Richmond and since she’s vegetarian, we stuck with meatless dishes for this lunch. For those of you not too familiar with Indian food, today’s post is a bit of a guide to what the labels above mean.

Terrible! Do not eat here!. The food: cold rice, burnt papadam (which they forget to bring you), the curry was uninspired and may very well have been microwaved. Gulab jamun was a week old and microwaved and tastes like the oil it was originally fried in was also used for pakora.

The staff are too lazy to change the specials board outside so you go in asking for the special and they say it's not available at that time. They talk on their cel phones while you eat. The kitchen rings the bell to indicate the food is ready and they ignore it while they continue their phone call.

Either they get enough suckers eating here at peak times or they're a front for something else... maybe just keeping the place open so their family can work the kitchen?

Don't waste your money. If you've lived in Vancouver for a little while, you probably know what good butter chicken is supposed to taste like, and you won't find that at Nirvana. I ordered the medium spicy, and that was about all they got right. The only taste was chili and salt - and so salty that I wondered if there wasn't some MSG in there. I wouldn't put it past them since they fully admitted to microwaving their rice (which tasted, well, a little dry from having been microwaved) Gordon Ramsey would definitely tear this place apart. It was 6:30 on a Saturday night and there were only 3 other tables in the place (never a good sign). I feel like the bread is the canary in the coal mine. The naan was thick and doughy, and a little too browned on the bottom. I know what good naan is, and it's the most heavenly, fluffy, addictive thing on earth. Really, if you can't get the naan right, what hope is there for anything requiring an intricate mix of spices? It was very clear that there was NO LOVE in this food. And after that, it really hurts to fork out $20.00. Will not be going back. (The waiters were very friendly, but I didn't come out to socialize, I wanted my butter chicken and naan damn it, and I didn't get it!)

Great Food. Nirvana is a great place to eat, the food is tasty and service is great, the atmosphere is great as well down to little details such as they serve Kingfisher beers here which is a very popular beer in India, I have also ordered take out which takes a long time to get about 50mins on avg (I live only 5min drive away) and the quality depends on how late you order, the later the worse the food gets. It is priced very well and I would recommend this place to people that want to eat at the restaurant for great food ans service
