Islands

Reason for visiting: lunch with my brother Date/time of visit: Wednesday afternoon, ~12:00 PM (day before Thanksgiving) Parking: in the adjacent lot, shared with other businesses. Free Party size: 2 Environment/ambience: sat in the outside dining area. Tables are properly spaced apart. Weather was nice. Not too crowded. No inside dining allowed but there's bathroom access Service: was great. Always came around to made sure we were good Food: was good. Had the Longboarder with fries well done.. so good. Cost: not too bad, what was expected. $50 for 2 burgers, fries, onion rings, coke, and a beer.

Very disappointing. You guys used to be great and have gone down hill. You charge $8 for a plain chicken breast?! Really?! For a baby? Wow. Most places charge $4. To make matters worse the only reason why we came was to watch the 49er game. Your staff said it was on and then when we sat down and asked for it to be changed we were told they don't get it. Would be nice for the staff to be trained and aware. Would have saved us $40.

Outdoor patio was very nice. Now with covid l, establishments have very strict guidelines they are required to adhere to and Islands has it down. Food was very tasty, China Coast salad and Shore Bird sandwich and Arnold Palmers. Service is excellent and we hardly recalled the very unusual times our world is going through thanks to this Islands restaurant being dialed in and making our Monday lunch very nice. Matt our server even offered to go drinks for us which we eagerly accepted since they were very satisfying. While waiting for your table, stay 6 feet away from people you don't know, wear a mask, then once seated you'll forget the sacrifices everyone is making to keep us safer. Thanks Islands for doing it so right.

I don't know if this will let me post with no stars, so if I can't, I will post with one star. The hostess was sweet. The waiter decided he was going to be a mini Stalin and tell us that we couldn't sit with our friends that we came with. He said we had to be split up to a group of 4 and 6. Well, there were only 8 of us. He purposely targeted us, because we were standing together, outside, without our masks on. We were with a friend who is in law enforcement and this waiter was trying to tell us that it is a law that we can't be together. What?! We weren't even a group of 10 let alone over 10! We left and went to a restaurant in Camarillo with no issues. I'm not sure if all the Islands are different, but I will never go to the one in Newbury Park, CA. The manager needs to have daily meetings with his/her staff. That was ridiculous!

Walked in hungry hoping it was not crowded, it wasn't got seated at the bar right away..service was awesome...took my order quickly and everything and everyone were be safe and covered accordingly. Food came out pretty quick and everything hot and tasty! My server was great and friendly! Place was clean and not full! Perfect!
