Perilla

Bowls are always packed to the brim, and the staff reliably honour requests like extra salad/no noodles, ect., which is always nice. Food is flavourful and fresh - most impressive is the incredibly fast <10 minute turnaround from order to pick up. I recommend trying the pork belly crackling! Unfortunately, the crackling can get soggy in the takeout container like in my last order, but the fattiness and savoury flavour still redeemed it somewhat. Keep up the generous servings and I will for sure be a frequent visitor when lockdown is over! *JAN 2022 UPDATE; their vermicelli bowl is much more oily now, and the pork was incredibly tough. They also didn’t honour my extra salad instead of noodle request for my last couple of orders, so that was a let down. Now 3 stars.

If you’re looking for a cozy, cute cafe with awesome food at a reasonable price, then Perilla is for you. From coffee to breakfast and meals, it tastes awesome. Perilla is just under my apartment and always my go-to. Now when the restrictions will be lifted from Monday, you’ll be able to enjoy their outdoor cozy sitting arrangement too!!

Edit to update: Decided to try the takeaway coffee again 3 times after my last review, and after Perilla's reply. Happy to say that takeaway coffees have been filled properly! 😊 Thanks to the Perilla team for replying and acting on the review. Updating to 5 stars for consistent improvement and listenibg to customers. Thank you! --------- Good food - we especially like the Pho, Laksa and Vermicelli Bowl! The staff are nice and friendly as well! BUT the takeaway coffee does NOT get filled up properly :( waaay below the brim. Unfortunately it happened to us a couple of times already, so it feels a bit of a rip off... Hope the store can improve on this.

We stayed at Oaks North Ryde last night and their on-site restaurant was so awful so we tried Perillas for dine-in breakfast today and it was pretty good, well priced. We just had the Bacon & Egg roll + Egg roll and coffees, and the coffee was really good - especially the Vietnamese coffee, I only wish it wasn’t served in a plastic cup with plastic straw. The bread roll was a bit much though, like a Banh Mi roll, I’d prefer if you could choose normal lightly toasted bread. Great service, very attentive ladies. Kind of nice to just sit and enjoy people watching here as you’re eating. Right next to the train station, but you don’t hear the train at all which is nice.

Not bad, but would have been better if the vermicelli bowl had mint and perilla. Ironically the restaurant is called "Perilla" but it's missing from such a classic vermicelli dish. Would have gotten 4 stars if it had mint, perilla, crushed nuts. Crispy pork belly was good, not too salty and crispy AF. Should be noted, this is probably the best restaurant in North Ryde, everything else is terrible. Don't even bother going anywhere else. You'll set yourself up for disappointment, just come here.
