Island Eatery

We enjoyed a wonderfully prepared meal. All fresh meats and vegetables. I ordered the "heavy shrimp" soup. The bowl was enormous. Loaded with shrimp, rice and spices. It was not heavy. The broth was filled with flavor. The staff are warm and friendly. The restaurant is small and very clean. I would highly recommend it.

Go give it a try! The restaurant was charming and clean! It really had an "at home" and welcoming feeling. The Cuban sandwich was seriously phenomenal! I've had lot of different cuban sandwiches, but this one won me over! The bread was fresh and the meat was so delicious! My husband had the pastelon (sweet plantain hot dish) he could not stop talking about how good it was. The presentation of the plates was perfection. You can really tell that the owner and her employees really take pride in the food that goes out to the table. My 2 small children shared red beans and rice and ate ALL of it. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. You just have to go give it a try! ☺️

When I saw 13 out of 13 perfect 5 star scores for a new restaurant I thought it was hard to believe and it is. Well here is the real story. This is a small place and when we walked in at 6PM there were 2 tables with a total of 7 people eating and a table of six who had ordered well before we arrived. There were 3 of us. I had looked at the menu on line and was looking forward to trying the Sweet Plantain Lasagne. A young man came and managed to get out enough English that we could tell he was asking if we wanted appetizers. I ordered the Queso Frito - Fried Cheese. He seemed to have no idea what I was saying so I pointed to it. At that point he had to go get help from the waitress who seemed to be the only person working there who speaks enough English to communicate with people. She then left to go order the appetizer and the young man tried to take our order. Long story short the waitress had to return to take our order. My wife ordered, my mother ordered and when I ordered the Lasagne the waitress told me they were out of that. So 1 of the 7 meals on the menu and they were out at 6 PM on Friday night after feeding a total of 7 people so far that night. I ended up ordering Shrimp soup. About 20 minutes later the first person at the table of six got their meal. A half hour later the first person at that table to get food was done and some of the remaining six still had not received anything yet. I received my $12.99 bowl of shrimp and rice soup along with a tea spoon to eat it with 1 hour and 5 minutes after I ordered it. For entertainment while we waited for our food the young man who tried to take our order rolled an incredibly noisy dish cart through this little restaurant to clear the dishes from the 7 people who had eaten and left, then of course rattled it past us back to the kitchen. Clearly the six people next to us were not happy and even said to us as they got up to leave they had eaten there twice today, the first time and the last time. The two tables of two who came in after us were not happy and they had not even received food yet. I gave this place 1 star for the food which was good, 1 star just because they are new and 1 star out of pity. The service is terrible and please give me a break, when you only have 7 meals on the menu you cannot be out of 1 of them at the start of dinner on Friday night.

Seen this little gem as we drove by. On our way back we stopped in and this place is just fantabulous! If you ever get a chance to stop in here to eat , do so. Owners and staff are so pleasant and the atmosphere is welcomign. Clean restaurant and restroom and kitchen. 😍❤️ My husband and I will be back (and we live in a different county) and we will bring family with us.. thank you for the great food
