Sparrows

Food is great. We had the full breakfast each. Only issue we had was after we arrived the place wasn't too busy but once it picked up and everyone was trying to pay and leave at the front till the staff struggled to find everyone's orders correctly which held a lot of people up from trying to leave. Otherwise, really good.

I liked the look of the place and the facilities. However the play ground and tractor circuit only cater for more toddler aged children. The trail to gather letters to unscramble a word to receive a prize,it turns out, (after considerable time and effort that the letters on the boards were incorrect. We enjoyed the bird of prey area, but it could do with all the bird names being displayed. As some of the enclosures didn't have any. The ablution facilities were lovely and clean and the farm shop had a great variety of foods and were displayed well. We then ate at the restaurant where we had (l think it was called) a plough platter for two. This had a wonderful selection of cold meats, unique cheeses, a sausage pastry and scotch egg with pickle relishes. Nice and tasty. However, the disappointment was that the half a bread roll each, that it was served with, was exceptionally stale. It would have been lovely to have had a home made slice of bread or even some cheese biscuits to enjoy our cheeses and relish with. This was a let down.

Thoroughly enjoyable! The reenactments were great. There was a guided tour down to Battlefield church, and we were hugely impressed with the detailed historical information that was relayed to us. Plenty of pavilions selling medieval wares, and all contributors to the event were in period costume, adding ambience to the theme. Axe throwing and archery reasonably priced. Free admission and free parking, another plus!
