Planters Tavern

Didn't make a reservation but we were able to get a nice table for two. We normally would sit at the bar but there were no seats. We arrived about 5:30. Loved the atmosphere and history. Was definitely a candlelight dinner. Our server Emily was very attentive. I ordered the strawberry arugula salad, delish, then the sautéed shrimp with ham gravy (cream sauce) served over 2 triangle grits cakes. Perfect. My hubby ordered a burger and fries. He loved the double burger. Emily let us know the fries would be coming shortly. The manager, Sean, came to the table to tell us he wasn't happy with the quality of the fries so they were making a new order. They were hand cut. My hubby said they were really good. Sean offered to buy a dessert for the inconvenience. Not necessary but much appreciated. We ordered the peanut butter chocolate bomb. It was the bomb!!! It was more than enough for the two of us. There are several quaint dining niches in the Tavern (basement of the Pink House). Highly recommend!!!

BEST MEAL EVER! Same menu as the olde pink house with no reservations. Arrive early so you can be sure to get in. I cannot even properly describe how amazing the food all was. The biscuits were the absolute best biscuits I’ve ever eaten. So soft. Also had the southern sushi, sounds weird but was sooo good. The shrimp and scallops pasta was great. The crab stuffed grouper special was great, but not worth the price. However the mashed potatoes and gravy that came with it were incredible and I could live off that. I don’t usually like gravy, but this was so good. The lemonade was refreshing and dangerously delicious. I loved the taverns vibe. Like an old English pub. But very dark so be warned. This is definitely a do not miss restaurant!

We were walk ins at the olde pink house for our anniversary dinner. We ended up being seated in the basement, which is called the planters tavern. It was a dark, very cool place with candle lighting. We had drinks and food from the pink house menu and everything was sooo good. TJ was our bartender and he was very friendly and treated us well. I would recommend it to anyone for experience and delicious food.

Since they don’t take reservations we waited about an hour to get two seats at the bar. Once we were seated we enjoyed watching the bartenders make drinks and keep the people at the bar engaged. The good was delicious! The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed long enough to enjoy live music, piano and bass. In the end, it was a wonderful evening.

DO NOT MISS OUT! Tried to get reservations for the Olde Pink House but no dice. After searching I read reviews about planters tavern and used them as my guide. About 4:50 I walked down the steps to go in…already quite a few people…I am guessing they use part of this for normal reservations. Was able to sit at the bar…and loved the experience. The dark room with candlelight was great. The food…incredible! The bartender and servers were also great. If you are in Savannah…this is a must in my book! Started with a wedge, Caesar and onion rings…really good. The flounder was superb…the pork was so tender and flavorful. And the cocktails were really nice…the Bloody Mary and the jalapeño margarita were really good.

1st time here and the food lives up to the hype. We got the sushi roll, soft shell crab special, fried pork chop and fried chicken. While the food was what we were hoping for it was the service that took us by surprise. Sheldon was our main server and he provided some of the best service I have ever received. Friendly, knowledgeable and considerate. Amy tag teamed with Sheldon to provide service and made some local recommendations which we appreciated and included in our itinerary. This is our 2nd time in Savannah and both of them made us feel welcome.

This is hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Probably top 3. Homemade biscuits are an absolutely must. We were a group of 4, had the fried chicken, fried pork chop, salmon and jumbo shrimp fettuccini and we were blown away. Staff was very friendly and on top of everything. Worth the drive to Savannah just for this place. Live music and ambiance are also magnificent.

Hands down the absolute best dining experience we’ve ever had!! They share the same menu as the olde pink house. The atmosphere is just amazing, love the candle lighting! We sat at the bar for dinner & both of the bartenders were fantastic. The food was some of the best food we have ever had! The flavor of everything we ate was perfection. Thank you so much for a phenomenal experience. We cannot wait to come back!!
