Smokkim

The fried chicken is very good. Reasonably good buffet in a nice (if somewhat cramped) environment. Modern looking decor and friendly service (but they don't have enough waitstaff). They gave us free jugs of the mocktail, and were happy with any food requests, and changing the hotplate. We got the premium buffet, the sashimi was quite nice, although it wasn't the absolute freshest sashimi I've ever had, it was quite good. Salmon, Kingfish and tuna were on offer. Unfortunately I just don't think the meat is real Wagyu beef, it is not the melt in your mouth texture of the really good stuff. Some of the cuts were downright chewy. There is a lot of variety of other foods available in the buffet including a lot of fried stuff, which is quite good if you can grab it while it's fresh. For a "premium" experience, it is a little bit disappointing. Try to get a seat in the outside section if you can, as it seems a lot nicer (and roomier) there.

I used delivery service late dinner . It is pork back bone hotpot . Awesome . It comes with 2 side dishes (pasta salad and kimchi) . I found a big pork bone about 5-6 pieces . In Korea , we are easy to delivery like this big soup though very late night . But. in Australia , it is usually not easy .. . So I like the Smokkim food . You guys who visited restaurant maybe know that smokkim is a very modern and sophisticated restaurant compared to another Korean restaurant . Good 😉

Edit; 28/11/2020 - Smokkim Top Ryde is no more, as is Smokkim Rhodes. Good night sweet Prince......now cracks a noble restaurant ------------------------ Excellent food, great staff and just down right great food. Did I mention it was tasty? It was down right great. Smokkim started at Rhodes but that store closed this week (Sep 2020) and this the best Korean BBQ in Sydney is now at Top Ryde. It's well worth the effort. Great food, good drinks, the price is excellent as are the lunch specials.

We spent $39 each person for the standard buffet, which included so called premium quality wagyu sirloin, and yet we had the worst dining experience ever. Every single piece of beef in the plate was tough like rubber, and my gum was even bruised trying to cut and chew the "premium wagyu". They never changed the barbeque rack even once in the whole time. If this was your first time with Korean BBQ, don't forgo your faith, cuz it's simply the extreme case ever, and every one else will be much better.
