The Risotto House

Will go again - Now, I am no risotto expert, but I don't know how many risotto specific restaurants there are. However, Risotto House in Rutherford is a must for those who enjoy a risotto dish. I have to say the beginning of my experience was cautious because I wasn't greeted very well. When I arrived waiting to be seated, no one came up to me. Then, when I asked for a table, the waiter looks at the clock based on the ~1 hr. time until they closed. It wasn't very inviting regardless of the short time to close. But, this was somewhat corrected with average waiter service after I sat down. I ordered the risotto con rigola, radicchio gambieri and my I must say that I was surprised on how good this dish was. The inclusion of the radicchio complemented this dish tremendously. It adds a delicious crunchy and earthy taste to every bite. As usual, the risotto was very creamy and the shrimp added a good buttery seafood taste to the dish. I'm quite interested on how good their other risotto dishes must be. The interior is what you would typically find in an Italian restaurant. It has a good, fancy setup good for a casual or date night. The parking is abundant with metered sidewalk parking along Park Ave.

I never expected my sons First Holy Communion dinner to be such a huge let down . I have never  been so embarrassed in my life and was holding back tears . I arrived 10 minutes early to decorate the table which I was unable to do . Two people were in front of me when I walked in . The hostess brought the two people to a table set up for 17 . The hostess told me I had to wait . I said after 10 minutes of waiting isnt this my table ,I pointed to the table that was set up for 17 guests with only  two people  sitting there .I have 17 guest and they are all here . She said no that is another party. Which she should not have sat them in my opinion because that party was not completely there. The same 2  people sat there for 20 minutes with no other guests . Unfortunately it was Mother's Day and I'm sure those guests were there celebrating Mother's Day but I was there for a booked event for my son's First Holy Communion .My table should have been ready and I should have been seated as my full party was there 10 minutes before my reservations. My party was finally seated at 4:20 .I looked over to see the other party of 17 has still not fully arrived. We then ordered our dinner at 4:30 because we had a lot of little kids with us. Six of  my guest were about to walk out  when  food   came out at  6 p.m. My meal was not up to the standard as I previously had the portions were also lacking. My husband could not even eat his meal he said it was terrible.  10 of my guest left at 6:20 .They didn't even want to stay for coffee or dessert . At 6:30 I was asked with almost all my guest gone if we want a dessert or coffee .  I said no , the waitress did apologize and  offered  me and the remaining guests free coffee. I cried as soon as I left . I can't believe that this is the memory I will have of my sons first Holy Communion dinner .Words cannot describe how I felt  and still feel .

Haven't been to the Risotto in years, that was our biggest mistake. Revisited Saturday night and to our delight it was fantastic. Rice balls as an app were the best we've ever tried, stuffed pork chop, or should I say pork chops on the bone in a marsala sauce were out if this world, the Rigatoni Bolognese with peas and mushrooms in a creamy red sauce was an exceptional experience. Unfortunately after the bread, the apps and dinner, not to mention a bottle of wine, we just couldn't do dessert. Next time. Go...but make reservations.

Came to The Risotto House with my friends who live in town. Normally we go to Paisanos which is up the block but it was closed (Sunday). I'm so glad that it was and we found this gem!! we did outdoor dining due to COVID and the service and food was so great and it's BYOB. The Seafood Salad and the Fried Calamari were fantastic appetizers. For my entree I shared the Chicken Milanese special with spinach in VODKA SAUCE!!!!! my husband got the lamb shank that was so tender and flavorful and my one friend got the five cheese risotto which was awesome!!! Everything was not too pricey and very tasty. Thank you Risotto House for the wonderful experience.

Wow ! I had a craving for risotto & I was about to make it on my own. Good thing I found this GEM in Rutherford. Orders for the evening as followed ... crab cakes in mustard sauce & the Rutherford salad ( delicious fresh ingredients including goat cheese & apples ). My entree was the chicken, asparagus risotto & my boyfriend entree seafood risotto. As soon as we arrived we were promptly served with warm bread & butter. BYOB. Wine was corked and poured by the wonderful server we had. Great & calming environment. Definitely a place to go to when in town! Rutherford such a quaint strip to enjoy ! Wonderful, clean restaurant !

Perhaps we just ordered the wrong entrees. Husband ordered the stuffed pork chop special. Not tender, kind of tangy taste too. The risotto had a mushy (overcooked) texture with globs of mozzarella cheese throughout, so when it cooled, it coagulated and was not good. My chicken in wine and lemon was ok at best. 2 very small pieces (table to our right ordered same and had 3 tiny pieces) so much for consistency. Chicken had that reheated taste, slight old taste or perhaps it was just the quality. Restaurant was cute enough, but lacked energy and personality of the staff. Sadly, we will not be returning.
