D’amici’s Bakery

My family loves going to D'Amici's Bakery in Reading. On weekend mornings we go for breakfast and site @ a window seat while enjoying the most tasty breakfast sandwiches. My son who is 10, TOLD ME to give this place a 5 star rating after he visited the 1st time - he loves their cup cakes and egg & cheese breakfast sandwich. Low key & cozy. On the flip side, the service is always terrible. The employees always look miserable, never smile, always seem like your inconveniencing them.

I really love this place a year ago, but I recently placed a cake order I ordered a top tier 8" and the bottom was 10" and bottom was suppose to be chocolate and the top was supposed to be vanilla. I then got a call from my sons doctors office saying he was allergic to all tree nut family so I called and they were super rude when i had lots of questions but not once did i say change my order, cause they whole cake ended up being chocolate and half of my party guest didn't get cake cause they dont like chocolate!

A pair of co-workers were having a retirement celebration at work, so I contacted D'Amici's for a cake. I opted for a sheet cake (~50 pieces), and since both enjoyed the outdoors and hiking, decorated with a hiking scene. The bakery was very responsive to the on-line order and followed up a couple times leading up to the pickup (we had about 5 days over a weekend to work with). The cake was ready at the agreed-upon day & time, and it looked fantastic. They created a scene with two hikers and a path leading up to a mountain which was very creative, detailed, and well done. I picked it up mid-day on a weekday, the staff was quick and friendly, and their obvious main concern was making sure the cake was safe for travel. The cake tasted great and everyone commented on how artistic it was. Nice job!

I always make things right when I should. It took D’Amici’s a while to get back to me about the cake order form but whoever did was more than nice!! Got all the information correct and made sure they covered every detail. They did an AWESOME job on the cake for my daughter’s rehearsal dinner so I have no doubt this next cake will be perfect too!!!

I love D'Amicis, especially the two women who work in the mornings - one is Diane, I always forget the other woman's name. They're both so friendly and remind me of my aunties growing up. The food is fantastic, especially the Santa Fe breakfast sandwich. The only complaint I have is to bring back the spinach and feta croissant!

Popped on in around 7-8ish last night. Just decided to go for a walk. SO thrilled to find a bakery that was open past 4p! The place was quiet but clean. The (youngish) staff were busy tidying up after the day. Everything looked so good and fresh. The girl behind the counter made suggestions when she knew we were her for the first time. The cupcakes were quite good with a flavorful buttercream frosting. The almond macaroons were that wonderful balance of crunchy and creamy. Well worth the stop when in town!

I love and have eaten many ricotta pies all over Boston and New England. My fiancé and I have become ricotta pie contesours. Stopped in the D'Amici's in Reading today and the pies looked great, so I bought one. Was looking forward to having a nice big slice after my 3 hour workout, only to be left disappointed 😩 The filling wasn't right at all! It was way too thick and didn't have a hint of ricotta texture. It tasted more like cheese cake. It was way too thick, lacked sweetness and was bland from the inside out. Had to use a lot of powdered sugar to manage through it. This dessert is one of the oldest and most historic Italian desserts and it isn't rocket science to make a good one. This pie was so bad that we didn't know what to do with it? We wanted to return it but who returns a pie? I will go the extra mile next time and buy a pie at Mike's pasty or Modern Pastry in the North End If you have never tried ricotta pie, do not start here.
