Purple Goat Cafe

When entering the restaurant, the staff walked around us several times without telling us how if we could get a table. They kept reiterating that breakfast had finished and we were only able to get coffee and cake, which was fine. Still we didn’t know if we could have a table as looking around all tables were littered with dirty dishes. When it was finally confirmed that we could in fact be seated, we waited a further 15 minutes to have our order taken. While waiting for coffee, we watch two other groups go through the same thing. They got table water and waited. Both groups left the restaurant without ordering anything as the service was so poor and their orders were never taken. We did finally receive our coffee and cake. The coffee wasn’t nice, the cake was okay but enough to feed a family of four in one serve. Then when checking out, we were hit with a surcharge of +15% (public holiday rate) for our trouble. $25 for two small coffees and one piece of cake. We won’t be returning to the Purple Goat.

I came here yesterday for lunch after a friend booked us in for a catch up! While the space was pleasant, and the food certainly nice enough, this place REALLY needs to review its prices! We shared a pizza and garlic bread in the end, which was nice! We would have had more, but with the average price on the menu around $35 (thai beef salad at $38?), it becomes hard to justify! At those prices I would expect a more fine dining experience, which this simply isn't. I hope that the management of this cafe will consider adjusting its menu to better align to the experience, or at least provide some more inexpensive choices. At this stage, I likely won't return.

I have been here a number of times for dinner as a couple and a group, the staff have always welcomed us openly, attended to our want for a table quickly without having to book, service is always fast and I have never had a bad meal here or been poorly treated by the staff. . Perth prices when eat out are rising and I feel that given the current climate for the hospitality industry the size of the meals are enough unless your one to over eat when dining out The dishes are always presented well and full of flavour. The wine is good and the decor is welcoming warm and quiet to have an enjoyable meal with family and friends and enjoy a good chat without having to shout at one another across the tables.

I had the best lunch here today, but I am squarely attributing this to the company and the outlook rather than the food. Everything we ordered was really delicious, but I have never in my life been charged $44 for a salad, and granted the beef was clearly a quality piece of meat however it's still a bit rich for a few strips of beef and some leaves and carrot...no matter how amazing the thai flavoured dressing was! The whole meal was $85 for two glasses of wine, garlic bread, chips (which we didn't finish) and gold plated salad. I left full & supremely satisfied, but I don't eat much and generally I can get lunch for two for a bit/lot less than that...perhaps I should have gone to Subway???! I'm not in a hurry to be overcharged for simple delicious food again so will probably walk past next time. Exactly how much does a nice view add to a meal? I generally avoid eating at Hillarys for this reason and I recommend a price review to this venue but I also congratulate them on delicious flavours!

Family of 4 entered 3 weeks ago on a Sunday night, were ready to spend big $$$ to celebrate a Birthday. The Restaurant was empty with only 1 other Couple eating. Asked for 'Vaccination Status' before letting us sit down. Clearly trade must be going so well, they didn't want our Money on a Sunday Night when the restaurant was empty

My wife and I went for dinner not knowing what to expect. She ordered the barramundi with creamy garlic prawns and I got the reef & beef (350g scotch w/prawns). Both of our meals came out quickly and were outstanding - steak, fish and prawns all cooked perfectly - kudos to the chef! There was a very limited spirits selection and both of our cocktails were weak. We also asked for water 3 times and never received it - I had to get it myself. If it wasn’t for this I would definitely give 5 stars as the food was exceptional.

We had a birthday lunch here on 8 March 2022. Couldn't fault the staff from the time we entered the cafe. The young lady who attended to our table, though busy, came to us a couple of times to make sure everything was to our liking as did the chap who had shown us to our table. Well cooked and presented meal that left us with a feeling of having over-eaten slightly, and the price was a fair one. We can highly recommend this establishment. We will be going back again.
